Yup , finally got pinched today. Was on my way through downtown Rd today, and was stopped at a Red light, waiting for traffic my phone buzzes with an incoming text, I picked my phone up and busted.. Jesus wish these guys would find something better to do with their time, go fine the dude actually in a forward motion with a fist full of fries in one hand, and his phone held to his head with his other. Needless to say when I said Phuck you and have a nice day, he didn't have a response. Canada... The new Nazi Germany, there are so many laws and bilaws, that the bilaws and laws have bilaws, can't park on the street in front of your own house for more then 72 hours without the vehicle moving? Like wtf, car got towed last week for it and we weren't home. So they tow it around the block and park it by a random park in front of a hydrant, and put the ticket on the windshield. We had to call it in as stolen, because we didn't know it was towed, nothing in the mailbox... Grrrr

Yep got the same ticket parked at a red light. I agree moving is a different story. So sick of all this chit. Spend more time worrying about all the devices to catch you than you do driving.

Yup, I know, as soon as the light was turning green you were going to hang up the phone and continue on your way.

A good friend was killed 2 summers ago by a "distracted driver". No excuse. If your driving, leave the phone alone. If you have to answer, use hands free.

there is going to be casualties regardless the penalties. Lets make drugs illegal so people dont do them... Lets make speeding illegal so people dont speed. Regulation is the death of democracy. With every law they make i lose some of my personal liberty. I'm a libertarian for that reason. You can't legislate the stupid out of people, my condolences about your friend but just like we still have drunk drivers, we will always have pointless deaths. Trying to legislate them away is like trying to save a person's life by stabbing them.

But i digress, as long as we get these socialists in government it will always be this way.

the distracted driving law just made it more dangerous. now people crotch text, instead of having it on the steering wheel where you can still see traffic and your surroundings....its a behavior that isn't going to stop, and law makers know it...it's yet another cash grab.

Sounds pretty plain and simple, eh! What did these busy business men and women doo before the cell phone? The law is there for a purpose and I have no sympathy for someone caught using the phone, or two hands full of food, or putting on make-up, or shaving, or texting, or a myriad of other distractions while behind the wheel of a vehicle.

Can't these fancy phones automatically transfer the call to a hands free device?

They do Doug when it's an actual call, when a text comes at you , it don't transfer lol, fact of the matter was that I wasn't in motion , I was stopped and read what was typed . Wrong yes , to an extent

As I said I wasn't talking on my cell , nor texting I read an incoming text while stopped, don't get me wrong I have done the whole one knee driving thing and yes it is wrong to do so, I just find sometimes they are trying to flex their muscles a bit much, but whatever. I don't see what I did that much more wrong then watching a quad ripping down the ditch while I drive past him, I am distracted by them doing so. Just saying

Texting is much more dangerous than talking on phone. You can still talk to passenger while driving down highway... What's difference??? Like mareshow said.. Can't legislate stupidity. Summers coming soon.. Will see all the dumbasses flooding highways every weekend.. I need a plane!

Everyone loves to bitch about distracted drivers but yet everyone does it....just sayin

This "everyone" doesn't and it isn't because I'm a saint. I don't use my cell except for safety when travelling. It is like the seat belt law; I didn't like it at the beginning and revolted but I conformed without the authorities having to give me a ticket. I doo use the hands free but I don't hand out my number to too many peeps because it costs me too much money. It is like $0.40/minute.

Good plan , don't give the number out too many people, less incoming texts :)
Really though its a good law, but there should be some kind of fine line involved within it.

I would rather have a drunk driver on the road than a texter.
The drunk is doin his absolute best to keep that unit rolling straight and legit so he don't get caught. At least looking At the road and surroundings
The texter is just staring at his glowing crotch

Either way though you wanna put everyone else on the roads life at risk because of your selfishness then be prepared to pay. Hope the bc proposed law goes in first time fine second lose phone for a few days. Third longer etc. would be great

Yes and I hope I'm not distracted by the dude towing a 35 foot trailer, with a 20 foot boat behind it :), that's not distracting in the least lol

>> did the crime and learned my lesson nuff said, now what about towing the car and parking it by a park 2 blocks away with the ticket on the window? And because they really needed to sweep that 7 feet that the Mazda takes up in front of the house. Hell they put the cleaning sign up after we left. Had zero clue it was towed, and called it in as stolen lol. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but that 72 hour law is total chit

Be nice now. I pull a 36 foot with a 15 foot quad trailer. Trust me my attention is on nothing but the train.
