For the winter any brand name 0w40 or 5w40 diesel specific it says on the label. Delvac Mobil, shell rotella T, Chevron Delo all good choices. Check walmart, canada tire, ufa etc. summer 15w40 is fine. Have him check on rev-x oil additive google it some swear it helps the 6.0L survive because it does have its fair share of issues.

I ran Amsoil in my 6L when I had it, prior to amsoil I was using Mobil 1. Noticable difference when cold starting in the winter. I think it was 0w40 or 5w40.

I have always ran 15/40 in the summer, and 10/30 in the winter in my 05. But I will look into getting some 0/40 or 5/40 now.

Screw that guys. 0w40 or 5w40 year round in a powerstroke.

First off 15w40 will coke up the injectors cause its too thick cold.
Also 10w30 in any DSL in winter is just stupid.
What about a Chinook day with a +10-15 day.
30 weight hot isn't think enough for a DSL hot.
Only fords use huie injectors that use engine oil to boost fuel-injector pressure.
Use good oil all year and have way less issues
Been proven.

I am newer in to the diesel truck thing as well. I have been using Shell Rotella 5W40 from UFA. Its like $31 vs $45 everywhere else for 5L
