Hey Guys, I was wondering if any knew if Polaris fixed there engine issues by 2015? I have a 2013 Pro 800 and it hasn't had any issues in 1700 miles. But I think I got lucky with a "good engine". Wondering what all they have changed from 2013 to 2015?

13 good to around 2000 miles then you are gambling. 14-15 have seen good ones with little wear at 3000 miles. Polaris made some changes at 14. There was a post about this not to long ago.

11-12 were the worst, they had thin cylinder skirts and pistons weren't all that great, 13 they upgraded the cylinders to have thicker skirts, 14-15 they upgraded the pistons as well. Your 13 to a 15 won't be a huge improvement in reliability.

But then again going to the internet to look for engine problems is liking going to a hospital to find sick people. There are many that have had flawless operation out of these motor, but if you are really worried swap out the pistons, they are relatively cheap if you can do them yourself.

That was the fix for the motors all along, they always lasted better under boost

They hold up surprisingly well, my bottom end has 5000+ km of which 4000km are on boost and my top end with a mtntek fix kit had 4000 boosted kms on it before i melted down the PTO side from detonation, but the mag side still looks brand new.

Ive got 2500km of boost on mine. Not a problem so far. Prob change out pistons for good measure. No fix kit needed when under boost.

I personally think these high performance 2strokes are ticking time bombs after 2000miles Polaris defiantly is known for more engine issues than the other 3. For the record I've had 2 that have taken out a pistons and towed down a particular sled 3 other times and another guy we rode with had his rebuilt 4 times on warranty so my bias comes with substance. I do like the look of the new ones and modern fuel injection seems to have them lasting longer as stated above just won't have one in my garage.

The guy that bought my 2011 M8 used it for work in northern AB so lots of cold starts and always outside on a sled deck. Rolled over 7000 miles last winter, original motor.
