We went for a trail check yesterday and were surprised on how good access actually is at both Allen and Clemina.

Allen creek is still rideable from the very back parking lot. The first 100m is all gravel and rock but after that the trail has 60% coverage until 4km with some fairly lengthy muddy/dirt patches.

Clemina, trucks and trailers can drive to the staging area at 4km. There is a lot of room to park. Trail has a few bare patches for sure but is very rideable.

We received note that the Dixon Glacier will be open on the 19th for those interested.

Please remember, things can change daily although this is the up to date info as of now.

Ride safe

Yikes...this is what happens with these revolving closures. This was my mistake. The communication from Wiegele is that they will be done with it on the 19th.

Remember, you can still go down the elevator and head left up the valley. Riders just cannot cross the lake or the dixon until the 19th.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience.

Sounds like Vale riding areas are still in decent condition, and more importantly, the trails are in decent condition. Looking at coming up here next weekend (April 22/23/24), with a 1/2 ton and 2 place trailer. Places to park along the sides of the road at Clemina & Chappell?? Allen looks like there wouldn't be an issue.

I was up in the truck the other day and checked the Dave Henry out, looked like it was truck and deck conditions down the trail, pretty dry. How far in was the slide?
David Henry; The trail is gravel all the way to an avalanche that is covering the trail.

We rode keyhole yesterday, 20 plus degrees and sunny, no wind, awesome day of riding.
Snow was good and soft, stayed up there till 7:30.
Going in we pretty much drove up to snow, with about 100 feet of gravel.
Coming down it was getting skinny in spots but still worth the drive to go there.
Amazing how the sun can burn the snow away.

Lots if snow up top.

Trail up Allen is disappearing quickly down low. Couldn't wish for a nicer day in April...in the twenties and lots of miles today. Definitely saw some new country, things are starting to let go and we saw some big slides today. Thanks for keeping the dream alive for us VARDA....

Our trucks went only to the cattle-guard then there was too many willows for us. From the cattle-guard its about three km to a narrow spot where the trail has fallen away and its too narrow to drive a sled through without 4 people holding it from falling into the valley. Only one sled went past that point in the trail. I think the the avalanche is only a few kms from the narrow spot.
