So I am wondering what I need to go riding in the mountains. Like insurance, registration. and what extra parts to bring or equipment. Thanks!

BC's new registration laws have taken affect so you need to have your machine registered in either your home province or BC to ride here. Liability insurance is good to have (so are theft are fire TBH) but not mandatory.

The important stuff is probe, shovel, and transceiver and have some familiarity and practice using them. If you enjoy mountain sledding and intend to make it a regular thing then I would highly recommend taking an AST1 course. Safety is number one in the backcountry. Gear should be waterproof and breathable with multiple layers so you can adjust for changing conditions. In your pack have everything you need to spend the night on the mountain if something goes wrong. I have fire starter, water, first aid kit, head lamp, extra socks/gloves/mid layers, compass and mirror, bivvy sack, dehydrated meals, flares, rope, string, tape, and much more.

off the top of my head, a decent first aid kit, lotsa ability to start a fire, spare belt, coms device.(ph and radio), extra clothes in case u spend the night, water, saw, couple pairs of gloves, rope...lots of it, ...others will add a lot more i am sure, all i know is my backpack is full and every other storage space that i have, i live by the motto, better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it

Bnorth hit the nail on the head. The only other things is a small tool kit and spare belts! It would suck to have your day cut short do to a lose bolts or blown belt.
