    Sportsman 4X4 not working

Good day, just wondering if anyone has any insight as to why the AWD on my 2005 sportsman 800 just stopped working one day. I used the machine to plow snow and it worked just fine, no issues, then parked it in the garage (not heated but out of the weather), came back two weeks later to plow snow...

    Fuel/oil mixture ratio

Hey all, i just rebuilt my sons '89 Polaris long track 440 engine. The oil pump has been removed so I didn't install another one. Just wondering on what a good fuel/oil mixture is for the first tank of fuel though it. I'm thinking 32:1 should be good but wondering if that's too lean for the...

    Crank case leak test

Hey all, i recently rebuilt my Polaris 440 F/C engine including splitting the crank case. Is there a method to pressure test the engine after I have it out back together so I can check the gaskets and seals and make sure they don't leak?

    What is this for??

Can anyone tell me why there is a gasket and orange gasket maker behind the serial number plate in my 89 Polaris longtrack 440? It looks like it should be a port of some kind but for what is beyond me. Any insight would be helpful, thanks.

    Stuck set screw

Hello all, I am replacing the track on a 1989 Polaris and have not been successful loosening the set screw on the lock collar on the jack shaft. I've used heat, fluid film, tapping the lock collar with a punch and hammer as well as a cordless 18v impact driver. No luck. So far, I haven't...

Residual oils in intake side of carb

Hey all, I just took a flash light and had a look in my carb when I had the air filter off and took a rag and wiped out some residual oil and carbon on the intake side of the carb. What is this an indication of? I believe the filter sock also had fine carbon particle dust on it. Any ideas? I...

    Converted 2 place sled trailer

Hi All, I'm converting a good utility trailer into a 2 place sled trailer. I removed the fender flares and am putting 2x8 deck boards over top to cover the holes. This will give me the extra 2' of width I need to put 2 sleds on it. I'm just wondering what I should use to go over the wood where...

Oversized piston vs factory sized pistons???

Hey all, so I recently found the compression on my '89 Polaris longtrack to be 120/60psi. I tore down the top end and found one piston damaged. I called the Polaris dealership and was told they don't make those parts anymore. He did say that I could bore out the cylinder and put in an...

    '89 Polaris longtrack won't start

Hi all, I have an '89 Polaris longtrack 432cc snowmobile that I can't get running. I started it two days ago by dropping fresh gas into the cylinders through the spark plug ports. It would start and quit several times until I was able to keep it running by holding the throttle down halfway. If I...

    Looking for a 15 X 148" track!

Hi all, i am trying to find a 15 X 148" track for a 1989 Polaris 432cc longtrack sled. It would appear that Polaris no longer makes this track and the best I can do through them is an $1100 conversion kit. I would much rather replace the track same for same if I can or find a cheaper...

What is the best gps to us on a snomobile

Hey, does anybody know which GPS is the best? I'm looking for a durable one that I can mount on my summits handlebars. I would also prefer one that has good maps with it ie. back country trails, creeks and lakes and a mount that will hold it steady on the handle bars. Any suggestions?

I'm a Canuck! How do I get my sled to display km/hr?

I have a 2014 Summit sp 800R ETEC. The multifunction display reads in miles and mph. I want it to read in km/hr but the manual doesn't specify how to do it. I have used the mode and set buttons to change the display around. Also, the analog display has no units but looks like it's imperial as...

Sled bogs down when given full throttle. Sometimes!

Hello fellow sledders! I have a friend with a yammy bravo 250. He says it bogs down if he gives it full throttle, but picks back up if he lets off to 1/2 or 3/4 throttle. He thought it may have had to do with heat initially but isn't sure. Seems quite intermittent. Hes cleaned the carb but...

    Can-am Outlander 400 drive shaft seal(s) removal

What is the proper method for replacing the drive shaft seals (front and rear shafts) on a can am outlander 400 XT? I read that the engine has to be pulled for the front seal which doesn't make sense to me, I would think the front diff should move forward so the shaft can be pulled forward like...
