what is a good sled for a 12 year old?

I am looking for a sled for next winter so i can go in the mountians with my dad and uncle in sted of having to double(i hate doubeling) any advice would be great. Thanks!

depends on your ridin ability, my nephew is 12 1/2 and he rides a xp 800 154, and he goes everywhere me do, but he's been ridin since he was 3, get the biggest sled u think u can handle or easily addapt to after a couple rides, my 2 cents

I known of a few beginners that started out on big machines and had trouble controlling them. Too much power can be intimidating if your not used to it. I think that a 600 with a 144" track is a excellent starter sled with lots of potential.

MY 13 YEAR OLD RIDES MY '98 YAMAHA 600 MOUNTAIN MAX.... NOW HE'LL BE GOIN' UP TO MY '99 670X MOD(DETUNED A LITTLE)....THEY GROW INTO THEM QUICKLY.
we have a 98 600 mountain max. but i would like somthing with a longer track

the 550 rmk is the perfect sled light and about 80 hp price for a new one very affordable my son started at 10 on a 488 rmk went every place we could go deep stuff we broke trail at 12 phazer fan piped ported long tracked out climbed every 600 on the hill very hard on pistons hard to jet

I have only road sleds with 120 hp or bigger no smaller.

okay 80 hp is PLENTY! i rode a indy 440 till i was 15 and that wasnt even 80 hp and it got me every where i wanted to go. and your probaly light so 80 hp would be perfect
but i ride a 150HP machine now :D
Man 80 hp is far from enough thats not enough:nono::nono: Theres ton of snow here probably more than where you live ... you need at least 110 hp to get aroun din the mountains In cranbrook !!!!!!!!!

HAHA man, LOOK on the map to where BLUE RIVER BC is, We got LOTS of snow, ask anyone thats ridden here, what is your snowfall there this year?

yea thats in the mountains, Down here IN town we got 17 feet and in the moutains problay 25-20, so watch what you say
