Personally I think it's confusing, but who knows? Maybe in five years that's how they will all be.

5000 Series C-TEC4 – Suzuki-built 1056cc fuel injected twin used in past models

6000 Series C-TEC2 – An all-new, 600cc Arctic Cat engineered twin

7000 Series C-TEC4 – Yamaha-sourced 1049cc triple with Arctic Cat fuel-injection intake, exhaust and clutching

8000 Series 800 HO – Suzuki-built 794cc two-stroke twin as before

9000 Series C-TEC4 Turbo – Cat’s famed top of the line 177 hp turbocharged powerhouse supplied by Suzuki

It's different. I've got no qualms with it. Bigger number = better! Easy for people who don't know the in's and out's, or don't care... I'm sure some arguments could be made regarding which is actually better... but I digress...

Its retarded. Why bother? Makes it even more confusing for newbies to the sport. I guess it doesn't matter once you know what you're talking about, but why? Trying to make their sleds sound "classier" or more car like?

UH it's a retro thing, back to the way cat used to number them but most of you may be too young to remember anything before 2000 lol.

Is there not a market for the new 600 smoker in a mountain sled?

I still got a 1976 arctic cat jag 3000. Must be some old guys working in the design department. FYI, the jag is still on the original belt. It would be nice if the new sleds could go at least one year on a belt. Maybe the design guys were dreaming the same as me.

They should have used words instead

like xm or xp, or freeride?...how is that any better?

This numbering system seems confusing right now....but it will be fine....just need to get used to it

I also have a Pantera 5000 and a Cheetah 5000 from the 70's sitting in my barn

Still have an '81 El Tigre 6000 hiding in my back yard. It was a stupid numbering system back then, and it still is now!

The 900 was scrapped in favour of the lay down 1000. It's a shame because it was such a stout engine and had great torque and horsepower for what it was. I just remember watching guys trying to start those things on a cold morning and popping their shoulders back in...
