Volvo will be contacting over 507,000 Volvo owners letting them know their vehicles is being recalled due to a risk of engine fire.No injuries nor accidents have been linked to the fault yet, but Volvo said its own investigations have identified that “in very rare cases the plastic engine intake manifold may melt and deform.”The recall affects cars produced between 2014 and 2019 and have a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder diesel engine in S60, S80, S90, V40, V60, V70, V90, XC60 and XC90 models.“The company is keen to fix the faulty vehicles as fast as possible and customers will not incur any costs related to addressing the error,” Stefan Elfstrom, Volvo spokesman said.The letters from Volvo warns owners of the engine fire risk, lets them know it is safe to continue using their cars but to be aware of the “symptoms” of problems, including a lack of power, warning lights or an “unusual smell”.Once Volvo has found a fix to the issue owners will be informed how and where to bring their vehicles to be serviced.Volvo says, “We are taking full responsibility to ensure the highest quality and safety standards of our cars. We will do our utmost to perform this action without any unnecessary inconvenience to our customers and we apologize for the inconvenience caused and are grateful for our customers’ cooperation.”
