I got my son his first sled this season.... a Ski-Doo Freestyle 300, I figured it was a good starter sled, especially since he's very small for his age and only weighs about 60 pounds! lol... The snow here has been wimpy to start, and we've only gotten out a couple times to ride so far... so over the weekend we headed up to the Schroon Lake area in the Adirondaks to find some snow, the trails were in pretty good shape (bit rough in some areas) and we ended up riding 100 miles over the weekend, most of it over some pretty serious terrain..... he did a fantastic job handling the trails!!
...and then, to top it off, after watching a couple of us adults hit a jump a few times, he figured he was ready to give it a try too... I was a little nervous but let him go for it and I could not believe it when he handled the jump like he'd been riding for years!!!!! He nailed it the first time and just kept going for it!
Most of the adults I know (especially out here) don't even jump! And after just a few jumps, he was even twisting his skis and giving a little look back to show off to the people stopping to watch him! Jaws were dropping all around us LOL
I was so proud of him
Here's a few shots I took... my son jumping, after only his 3rd time out on a sled
