Goose down jacket.
Highly recommended one of these.
They pack away to nothing, weigh a few grams, but provide big warmth if you have to stop moving for a few hours.

do you carry this stuff in a back pack or bags on the sled or both ?

I always consider that you could get separated from your sled (know a guy that spent the night on mountain after his sled did a ghost ride). I carry what I consider ‘Life Saving’ gear in pack pack, the rest is on the sled.

I agree with sled bunny.

Essentials are in my back pack.

But the bulk of the weight is in my tunnel bag or stuffed where possible on my sled.

In my opinion getting separated from your sled is one of the worst things that can happen to you.
