I have a 2004 Chev 2500 with 6.0L gasser, its got 250 000km and I want a newer truck. I have been looking online and cant find anything I like. I have the 2500 cause I have a deck and need 6.5' box for it. I dont need the deck as I only ever really haul my sled so do I sell deck and get a 1/2 ton?

Whats the difference in mileage from the 1/2 ton gasser to the 3/4 ton gasser?

I dont want to spend a ton of cash, but want something thats not high km, spend about 30 G max, maybe het into a 2008 but more likely an 07.

My 05 King Ranch, 5.4 4x4 with 3.73 will give me 24 mpg at 105-110. Pulling a single trailer and sled drops to 18-20 at the same speed. Not too bad for a full size truck. The wife is talking about a travel trailer for our holidays. I might be going the other way and getting at 3/4 ton.

I looked at a 09 F150 today, still has 6.5' box and with the smaller engine its better on gas than a Chev 2500 and about 5G cheaper. But than the deck would really only ever get on sled on it.

Where are you getting these figures from I have had 3 of the 5.4 triton ford F150's and they get horrible fuel mileage.Best I have ever got was 19mpg hand calculated from Calgary to Kelowna with a quad in the back not towing.Post those figures on F150.com and see what they have too say

He's going by canadian gallon for sure, which increases the mileage by about 20%. Also, might be going by the lie-o-meter to. Unless you calculate it yourself over 10-15 tanks, your not that accurate.

The current chevy always says about 19L/100km, not sure how accurate it is but it takes almost a half tank to get from Brandon to Winnipeg, which is exactly 200km

I have had the truck for 18 months and that is what I get for mileage on the Canadian gallon. I am in my 50's and I drive the truck very easy. I go by what the pump says and what my odo reads. When I go through one of those "your speed is" radar things, it is within 1 k of the readout. My lie-o-meter on the dash is 12-13 litres per 100 km. Good fuel mileage can be done, but it is boring. I get over 900 km per tank.

My 08 gmc 1/2 ton with a 5.3 and 3.73s will get 550-650 kms on a 95liter tank which isn't too bad but it is quite underpowered and is often between gears (which tends to happen when you are lacking tourque) Also, my buddy who works at a ford store up north says customers complain all the time that there truck uses way more fuel than a gm and doesn't disagree with them. If i were to buy another truck it would have a 6 speed tranny and if I had the money it would have the 6.2 liter motor.

That dead on with mine which is an 08 with 5.3 4spd auto 4.10 rear end.Usually right around 500k to a tank in town pulling a small work trailer.Best I have seen is 20.5 MPG all hwy with a full load of tools in the back @110-120kph.My old 5.4 ford used to be the same 500-550K's on a tank but the tank held 120l instead of 95l.The chev is saving me about 10% in fuel costs over the Fords.I would love to have the new 6.2 with 6spd

Went and drove the F150 again today, its nice with the leather and navigation system and sunroof. It doesnt have near the power as my Chevy, seemed to never change out of first gear. It does have way more back seat room, but how come all vehicles have the radio almost directed to the passenger now?

I just bought a 2010 gmc 2500 crew 6.0 and its getting the same MPG as my 07 chev 1/2 ton with a quad in the back and between 115-120km 16-17mpg (calculating at the pump) and its gets 19-20mpg unloaded and 105-110km/h. I only have 3200km on it so it should get a little better with time. I can't wait for may long to load it up with a holiday trailer, quad and gear to see how it pulls. So far i really like it and i hope it stands up the way all my other GM's have in the past.

Weird, my bros 2010 dodge, a lot of things are more towards the driver. Radio is still central but console with temp, etc is in the instrument cluster among other things.

my last truck was an 07 silverado with the 4.8, and it was good for driving around. even with a quad in the back you didnt notice it.

i got 700-750km per a 100 liter tank going 110km/hr (after 20000 km break in).

it could pull a trailer but thats why i went to a duramax

and for $30000 you can get a nice 2 year old halfton

So I now am torn between a full loaded (Nav, Sunroof, leather...)09 F150 King Ranch with 20,000km or a brand new XLT with cloth and power seats. With rebates they work out to within a grand of each other. Suggestions?
