m8 2008 speedo problem

anybody know what it means when the digital readout on a 2008 m8 is showing L.C.D. instead of the mph or tach speed? it seems to be an intermittant problem as well.

My did the same thing shop sad nfg need a new gauge but my tach and one trip still works for knowing miles but can' t reset. But who doesn' t need a math question after riding allday hoping to have enough fuel
