Seat was getting to be in bad shape, cost me $150 to repair wifes seat. Thought I would take a different approach on mine. Room for beverages and some extra mixed fuel or a lunch. Now not such a low rider to sit on.

If your elan is a 250 twin,I was wondering what carb setup you used? carb size and jets,ect....

I flipped my 250 twin to a 28mm mikuni and started with the specs from a mid 80's elan...... when I went to a 300 I went to the 32 or 34mm and I think I used the spec from an 81 citation 4500 and did some fine tuning after that......I even had an old adjustable bowl on that old girl.......then I pulled all that out and put in the blizzard 7500 plus 340 liquid RV with dual carbs and twin tuned pipes......that was the best improvement till I had a slight crash and was off work for 15 months......not so good of an improvment! lol those dam elans are really tippy at 70-80 mph LOL

Ha Ha, probably not back in the day. I'm stoked to be going to look at a '78 blizzard 7500 Rv this week to add to the addition, they sound wicked. Going to be selling off a dozen or so this fall, just cant find the time for them all anymore

Those original belts were awesome,I'm sure that rotax 12hp motor was the best made,I've had too many elans to count over the years and yet I've never had to rebuild a carb or motor yet.

The only problem I find with the twins they tend to overheat in the warm weather,I removed the linkplates also, all they do is tear up the track edge, dropped the suspention down to the second holes, big difference in travel and the ride.
a video on my 75 300ss

Just put another elan together with a 28mm carb, it was an electric strat motor so rewired it all. Runs fine but at an idle quits after a couple seconds. Thought carb issue, after messing around pulled one of another sled and the same. Swapped plugs, opened and close up points gap no difference, took out intake spacer and moved carb boot right upto cylinder. Thinking bad crank seal? Or still poor spark at low idle. Compression is good, pulled decompressioner apart all good, unhook all wiring and no change. Any ideas????
