I'm changing oil in my compressor and they say to use "compressor oil". Is there a concern-able difference between "compressor oil" and 10-30 motor oil?

That's what I have and I don't really want to drive to Sparwood to get it. Thanks, fs

Usually what they are looking for is a 30w NON detergent oil. The 10w30 has detergents. Any auto part store should have some. If you have oil for a pressure washer pump it may be the same stuff just check the label.

Compressor oil is a "non-detergent" type of oil. Using a regular oil, the detergent traps the moisture naturally present in an air compressor, due to lower than car engine operating temps the moistures does not get burned off and you end with foamy goo.........that being said if you really need to change it that bad(ie its already dumped) Through in your 10/30 and just change it again later when you have the "compressor" oil.
