Getting ready to send in a pipe and some other stuff for coating. Some guys are saying to do the Y pipe and some say don't.

Let's hear some good explanations and not just "I heards".
Thanks in advance!

it just creates more heat, you decide.some pipes need the heat but i dont know if i would want more heat against the motor on the y pipes.

i dont understand how it creates more heat.

or you mean it holds the heat in the pipe more making the egt higher but underhood lower?

exactly, but you only want heat in the pipe for making power, dont really need higher egt temps. do ya?? they sure look good but most of my group wont do it,we do crome them though.:twocents:

Some 1000 summits/mach z had problems with the Y-pipe collapsing. The inner layer of metal would collapse into the exhaust path causing a restriction. See this on Dootalk I think.
