So last weekend had a battery go dead on a quad, could not find one to fit so hooked a car battery up.just mounted on the front rack and ran extention cables to hook it up.This worked great, quad started better than it ever did and no going dead when winching and the winch seemed to even work better.

But is this a good idea or could you take out stator or fry electrical parts.getting tired of replacing batterys all the time when you can get a five year warranty on a car battery.

It'll be fine. Just don't try to charge it from dead with the quads electrical system. Could be too much current. Shouldn't really be doing that if it's in your car either though.

bigger battery is fine , use to add a second battery for larger electrical loads, like spray tanks or lots of winching.

Don't ever go to a smaller battery, the charging system on a atv will always put out amps whether it needs it or not . the system relies on internal resistance in battery to keep from over charging.

All my batteries last over 10 years you just have to take proper care of them. Charge every 2.5 months
