2011 etec. running board question

the tail end of my running board (on both sides) is not joined to the side of the sled. i can easily fit my thumb between is this normal?

Jump on your running boards and you will see them flex and move where its not joined a bit.

Or do you mean the just the edge strip is not connected?

the edge strip only at the end of the running board. just seems a little wide of a gap. looks like it could catch your boots or clothing.

Mines like that as well. But my feet are hardly ever back that far anyway. It's not a big deal.
