just got this sled back from a raw deal after 8 weeks of it being left to die. i was going to sell it off as parts and recover some cash, but its only money and still a decent sled. was a engine tech 860 now its going to be a snowX 800r with a engine tech head.

thanks to a fellow snow and mudder and friend i have started the tear down and rebuild.
anyone else in the process of rebuilding one of these motors join in with progress pics and info.

any help/input is welcome thanks

Where did you order your parts through? What type of piston would you recommend cast steel or aluminum?

i ordered a complete rebuild kit from srx racing parts out of the states. they are a snowX dealer. i paid 1500u.s with the extras it came to 1850 to my door. i would say the cast would be the better option. these snowX pistons are actually made by yamaha oem. they have extra oiling holes and ribs in the piston. and are dual ring

Thats pretty decent. I imagine that is stock bores?

stock bores, the porting was a little different on the 3draves. the crank balance was welded on the pto side the connecting rods are different with what looks to me better oiling holes.

included in the kit was

-snowX piston kit c/w wrist pins and bearing(yamaha oem)
-snowX crank ( i couldnt find any i.d numbers on the crank)
-snowX cylinders
-snowX complete engine gasket and seal kit. including the raves

i thought it was a good deal, and michael the guy i dealt with let me know they will do any mods you want as well.
