Cool Guns

Last weekend my uncle gave me the first gun our family bought when they came to Canada. Double barrel open hammer 16 guage.
5 generations old, almost hit the garbage twice, but it is safe now.
Part of my daughters collection now.
Will stay as is, maybe a light cleaning.
A bit rough but it now has a home for a long time.

Nice Randy, I have a family handgun that is stuck at a family friends house as my transfer didn't go through in time. I did apply but it was turned down citing end of program. Guess I have to wait for the government to change. Then once I receive I can post a pic here,

Very nice. My wife's grandfather has 2 open hammer shotguns that I would love to have. Forget what they are but one is Spanish. Very light and feel very nice in the hands.

Not that cool of a gun. For a cheap rifle not to bad with just having bore sighted and no further adjustments yet

MK4 how many pounds did you have there to launch that barrel? I had 3 pounds with a same blue plastic barrel and had it propped up about 10 inches off the ground but it sure didn’t go that high. It was a rain barrel that had a split in it from freezing so maybe that was the problem.

That would have been around 4-4.5, also had a mixture of tannerite, sure-shot and thundershot in that one.

We set the barrel, which was completely sealed, directly on the charge on some good firm ground.

First one was a 1/2 of thundershot's rimfire version.

I've launched 10lbs empty propane bottles further into the air with 1lbs on frozen ground.

Nice rig ya got there Murray. I just grabbed a 6.5 PRC in a Browning X Bolt Speed. For when the RMR .300 RUM might be a bit too much. Likely just pull out the big rig now when moose or elk are the tag I am looking to fill. How's that 7 PRC shootin'?

Quick rip up to Corlanes to pick up another rig I had Greg set up for me. What a sweetheart to shoot this is. Browning X Bolt Speed in 6.5 PRC. I had the trigger done at 2.5 lbs and went with a Vortex Viper scope on this one in 4-16 x 50.

Thanks man! Love the short bolt throw on the X bolts! Its half MOA with factory 175 ELDX, was able to get 5 boxes of precision hunter with same batch and lot number but seeing anywhere for 5-20 ftps es over 5 shot groups. Really hoping we get some quality brass landed in canada sooner then later.

Yup, thats my plan once my dies arrive and quality brass is available, not gonna waste components with garbage Hornady brass, its close to pressure with the factory ELDX's with the odd one having heavy(ish) bolt lift, read about lots of guys reloading once fired factory Hornady brass the max they are getting is 2-3 loads and some of them the primer pockets are pooched after the factory pew. 100 rounds will get me through till spring and hopefully have everything I need to put together a 2900+ 180gr Berger.

I have reloaded once fired factory Hornady brass in my 6.5 Creedmoor and have had 3 or 4 with primer pocket issues as well. Here I thought it was pretty good stuff but thinking nor now.

Yea its thin and brittle, it does the trick but once you've used Lapua, ADG, Peterson, Norma.
I have a couple pieces of Lapua 260REM brass that are on firing 11-12 primer pockets are still good to go.
Also to consider,
6.5 creed max 60k psi, 7PRC max closer to 65k psi.

I grabbed a box of ADG brass/140 Barnes Match Burners and a pound of H1000 to start with this 6.5 PRC. Hoping to get some decent results. I’ll be hunting with Barnes LRX bullets. They will be rippin’.

Yup if you can get ADG or Lapua your laughin, I've had awesome luck with the Nosler 142 ABLR's out of my 6.5's, you might end up filing down your plastic x bolt mag for a touch extra length tho!
They are tight in my short action AI mags.
