Shouldn't be a different rail, if you use the stock polaris drivers you do not have to cut the rail but the chain case sleds come with the splined shaft so you will need that shaft to do the swap.
Or you use Avid or Powder freaks drivers and anti stab and cut the rails and use your shaft, this in my opinion is better way to go. The tracks have to be run way to tight in stock form.
I cannot confirm for all years but the rails for some 3” and 2.6” are different, different part numbers and different length. The tracks are slightly different length as far as I know due to the difference in pitch.
