07 800r Now 07 GMC Diesel

2 motors in my xrs now my 07 diesel tranny acting up bad went to Smyl in town to see what is the problem with it and well 3-4 weeks cause we have 10 like yours here that wont move and GM has no fix OR parts in site. Basically I was told TOUGH LUCK. To bad it is not a lease because IT would still be sitting there
and i would be driving something else. So now I am almost dont want to take it any where. Maybe to a fire sale with my 07 xrs in the back. Any other 07 acting up out there.

Let me know were the truck is gonna be sitting and ill do the deed for ya. I wouldnt mine a spare parts sled. The truck on the other hand is gonna get the fire sale.

Friends 03 allison was giving him problems last week. He took undid the electrical connections on his tranny blew them out with air then electrical cleaner blew again and took for test drive all was OK. Must of been some moisture in the connector. Get dealer to try that who knows better than watching it grow old and not using it

My friend has an '06 Duramax and it was leaky transmittion cooler lines. Seems to be a real problem with them and parts are back ordered for atleast 3 months. Possibly the reason for your tranny issuses. Just a thought.

rmk800's 07 durascrap was one of the 10 in at Smyl's today the tranny oil really smells burnt. It stunk our whole shop up the other morn. He might chime in here but I think it had something to do with the synthetic tranny oil and the cold.?????

I have already gone down that road and new cooler lines in about a month ago.

GLEN, THRE IS A CONNECTOR PROTECTION KIT AVAILABLE FOR EXACTLY THIS PROBLEM... CHECK WITH WHOEVER DOES YOUR TRANNIES, AND THEY'LL GET YOU THE PACKAGE.... CONSISTS OF A DEFLECTION PLATE, SEALER, DI-ELECTRIC GREASE AND CONNECTOR GROMMETS..... HAVEN'T HAD TO DOO ONE FOR A WHILE NOW, THOUGHT THEY WERE ALL FIXED?? LOL

there not back ordered i work at the dealer ship and they have plenty of stock

Its not connectors nor cooler lines... The fluid in the tranny is to thick to circulate when warming up, When you run your truck with the high idle on and colder than -35 it heats the oil up too fast and cooks the torque converter and possibly your tranny oil pump. They should be running a synthetic oil instead. Just keep your high idles off if its colder than -35 if you want to save your tranny.

I had that kit installed on my truck because it was shifting real funny. Never had a problem since.

Is anyone running cardboard or anything against the rad?? When I worked at a shop loooong ago diesel trucks would always come in with tranny problems when ever it turned real cold. People were doing everything to keep the heat in the and blocking off the rad so no airflow through the coolers and it would overheat and burn out the trannys. "they would say the whole rad isn't blocked" but where the cooler lines were or the cardboard ran down between the rad and the external cooler so there is no airflow through it.
Just a thought guys now with all the bells and temp lights this "shouldn't" happen

okay here is what gm told me. they said that the new tranny fluid (dex vi) is a semi synthetic and is gelling off at -40c and can't circulate through the cooler therefore overheating the tranny and cooking the oil

well somone fed you a line there is a new update to be installed to the pcm for this problem,its caused by the high idle and the torque converter overheating before you even drive not the fluid gelling so pass that one along we are starting to do this update when there dropped of to us now

That is interesting because the clowns at the dealer here in Whitecourt have no answer to why and no fix in site. Even if there was a fix to save what is left of my tranny they cant and wont be able to look at it for 3-4 weeks. Time to look at something else To bad its not a lease.

you should ask for a unit down request. i work at a ford dealer. dont know if gm is doing this but that should be coverd under warrante. and i know when a vehicle is gonna be down for a while we put in for a unit down request and if its a go we supply the rental coutasy of ford. so thats something you should look into. would suck to be out a truck cause of a back order or a back up of work at the dealer.

our dearler also supplies a rental for customers when the vehical is down for more than a day

There are a wack of other people on another forum with the same tranny problems on their GM's. Same storry, they're down for 6-8 weeks and no rental unit to drive. What's going on with these new trucks these days? My 08 Dodge is unreliabe because the PF plugs up when it idle's and could shut the engine down. When it goes down you have to tow it to a dealer. That's really going to be cool when your in the middle of nowhere.

Great had 04 Duramax never had a problem with it ever.Had it chip,exhaust,intake,lifted.The check engine light never came on once.Bought a new 08 duramax last weekend didn't even get 200 km on it and the check engine light is on.Starting to think I made a big mistake getting rid of my 04 chev.Talk to my uncle this morning he's got 07 10 weeks before they can get it in to fix the torque converter on his truck and no rentals to be had.He's not happy as his truck is his job.
