I have just read thru your forum on the fire in the Bruderheim Natural area. I guess you would have to be one of the people who was given 10 minutes to take what you could from your home and leave behind everything else including livestock to really understand how devestating this fire is! A hidden agenda....I think NOT! It is now TOO LATE to worry about preserving this area for you or anyone else to truly enjoy. The fire has turned the Natural area into something resembling a war zone, and what about the WILDLIFE, the animals that actually used to live in there. They are either dead or have lost their habitat. I am impressed by the members of your groups that have offered to help clean up whats been left behind by the fire...cudos to you!! Unfortunately for those of us who actually live near the area, it will NEVER be the same again in our lifetime.

I havent riden out there for about 4 years, but drive by every 4 days on my way to McMurray. Took some pictures just when the fire started and again on the Friday when the fires were almost out. I will post the pictures when I get a minute. 'Almost burned out' is right, it will never be the same

redwater as a nice riding area just north of the vinca bridge with staging on the old victoria trail...bit of a drive but wildwood around chip lake is nice as well..never been there on the quad (just sled) but know many who do.

There is a section in here somewhere with riding areas and maps...also you can do a thread search

I remember riding out there in the mid 90's, was a really nice place to go, could ride all day and only see a few riders, then in the early 00's it seemed to just get packed out there to the ridiculously unsafe point, then there was a big fire out there , can't remember exactly when but it was around 00/01 I think, then had a buddy injured out there due to some reckless twit riding way to fast on the trails just after that. Pretty much quit going there after that.
What I noticed was people seem to forget that it's grad season and the bush parties are in full blown swing now, wouldn't be surprised if alot of the mess you seen is from the dumba$$ kids being raised these days. I know for fact that the majority of problems that they have had in places like Indian graves, maclean creek and waiprous were due to the grad partiers. Not saying they are solely responsible, but they were the ones leaving the biggest messes in past years. Unfortunately, we have our bad apples amongst and bikers and atvers are the most visible crowd and the easiest to blame for everything that goes wrong.

I have been in bruderheim, Redwater and Gibbons for the last few days accessing fire damage for insurance companies. What a mess, there is still slot of hot spots and firefighters are going around on foot or on quads and putting them out. These counties still all have ATV and fire bans on. I've seen slot of damage and lots of uncovered damage. I will post some pics later.

I will round up additional volunteers and come with truck and trailers to help the clean up. Just let me know when it's appropriate.

I rode that area once last year on a weekend and I agree that it has become too popular for my liking. We went out in the snow about 7 weeks ago and had fun in that area. I would gladdly try and help clean it up.

I'm game....but aparently they are still dealing with hot spots. If we get the rain/snow forcasted for mon/tues then next weekend might be a good time to gather the calvary and do our best to try and clean up whats left behind......I'm sure the fire has unveiled lots of trash that was unseen before...get some trucks trailers, I'll speak with the lamont county landfill and make sure they will let us disspose of the trash. Normally you need to be a resident with a card....But I'm sure they will make an exception.

I'll see what I can find out over the weekend.

I was out in bruderheim today looking at fire losses one which was right past the creek when you head north from the town. The destruction and damage is enough to make you drop your jaw. I then headed north down the gravel road that divides the natural area from the sand pit and wow! If it's not burnt it's destroyed by bulldozers, what a mess on both sides of the roads. There is many hot spots and they have crews running all over. In fact I found one that was just starting on fire again. 310-fire. Stay out of this area as they are still fighting fires and it is still under a ATV ban, and that means dirt bikes too.

I can't believe people had fires out there in the last week or so especially if it was on the long weekend. There has been a fire ban in affect for the last three weeks in central Alberta and north. I wish people would watch or listen to the news or read the sighns in the local area.

And if its people throwing out there Butts, quit being a Butt head.

You people are giving us quadder's a bad rap!!! :twocents:

The best thing to do is call the County and Fire department directly. While there may not be a County wide ban, there may be certain areas that are restricted. Don't rely on a newspaper reporter for info, as it's usually inaccurate.

There are still barricades in place preventing any use of the area, if you enter you will likely be quickly escorted out as there are fire crews still fighting active fire in the area! Heed the warning!

Problem is you SHOULD be escorted out .....but the fire fighters have better things to do...for those who figure well they say we can so lets go....Fawkin havatter but you make all of us look like -----....The locals emotions are high and anyone going in there is just adding to the problem...but like I said havatter but don't bitch and whie when the area gets shut down......because due to YOU it will...

Cheers...have fun riding FAWKERS....
