I've had a set of 315/70R17 Duratracs on backorder since the end of August... Not good. If they aren't going to show up till February, I think I'll pass.

I ended up going with the stock size (275-70 R18). A nice guy from Fountain tire (exclusive to) brought them in for me. The price wasen't actually all that bad. I think all in it was around 1500 Dollars.

Every fountain tire I talked to told me they were on back order and the ship date was I believe in January. But then they all quickly told me that most likely it will be longer.

Rather frustrating, because you would think if you are trying to buy winter tires in August you would beat the rush and get a set in good time. Might just keep running the Terra Grapplers instead.

I am running Terra Grapplers right now, they havent had many miles put on them but they are much quieter than the BFG A/T ta.

So my question is:
1. They are not snowflake tires so I need chains to get to Valemount, does it matter if they are cable or real chain type?
2. Do I need them for 2 tires or 4?

Everyone here really loves the duratracs? Even when the treads blow off randomly? I don't know much about tires but I think i'll stick with another brand.

Where did you read or hear of the tread blowing off the Duratracs?

Only looked on my phone, but limited 18" selection from what I saw. 275/70/18, not much more rubber than factory. Seen some Kelly's on smaller trucks/suv, looked like a decent tire

Picked up a nail last fall, no leak and tires still in good shape. Every tire has there day tho. Had some bad luck on the BFG MT KM2 separating when it came out years ago, but put some on my work truck last year, made it a year on the set with no punctures etc, been happy with them. Going to try studded Firestone Destination MT's next..see if the ol Firestone "blowout" is still an issue!!

Personal experience.. Did I mention they wear out so fast you better change to youre all seasons as soon as the snow is gone.
But lets be honest, nobody is ever happy with anything they purchase and always expects more...:)

We have 4 trucks
All running Goodyear Silent Armour for 3 or 4 years now
No complaints at all with them

We like the softer rubber as it grips the road better so we do not get 160000km per tire but never hit the ditch yet either hahaha

I just put a set of these on my 08 Cummins this fall, so far so good after the first couple snow falls. Ride nice and fairly quiet too, so far I would recommend them.

I've never run a winter tire on my personal vehicle before. Always went with a good all season. Had great luck with the Goodyear Silent Armour. Gonna try these this winter. Good Year Ultra Grip Ice WRT. I'll run these in the winter and as soon as I wear out the Stock BF Goodrich Rugged Trail T/A I will switch them up to the Goodyear Silent Armour. We run the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac on out company trucks, but I find them a tad loud and don't see any better traction than the Silent Armour, and they definately don't last as long as the Silent Armour<img style="margin: 1px;" src="attachment.php?attachmentid=114349&stc=1" attachmentid="114349" alt="" id="vbattach_114349" class="previewthumb">

Just put 6 Toyo Open Country A/T on this morning :) I've run these all season before and like them.

Throw on a set of Firestone Winterforce and stud them. Done......best bang for your buck if they make them in your size.

I run Firestone Winterforce studded tires last year as well. Last year was the first year I run studded winter tires and I wont go another winter without them. They wear pretty well. I think i will get at least 2 more winters out of them. Quite a deep tread. With the studs they really chew through the ice.

This week I was in the same boat with the 18" size on my 2008 F350 and I also needed load range E for pulling my bobcat and excavator so I found Cooper Discoverer full studded winter tires they look awesome never used them before so hope they are good. The tire store had them on all there work fleet trucks so I assume they are good. Good luck

This tire with studs they have alot of siping in them.

I would love to hear how studs are? I have never had them. How much are they to get installed?
