Thanks for all your help so far. Starting to find my way back into snowmobiling. I was wondering how many kms before rings and pistons should be replaced on a 2000 summit 700? My sled has 4000kms on it.

If it ain't broke don't fix, let the machine tell you when it's tired.

I had a 2000 700 151, the sled had 6900km's on it and I had the clutch side ring break. Mag side was still within spec, replaced both as it was apart, had crank checked it was still good. Friend had 8200k's when he decided to do his and it was still running strong prior to putting them in.

I have 5300km on my 2000 700 Summit 136. It still runs well, but this summer I will take a look under the head to see what the conditions are like.

I have seen one 2000 700 with 8000 km of mountain riding on it. It had never been apart. The machine still runs strong. One good thing about the 2000 model is that it was the last year Bombi without isoflex in the crank bearings, so that's one less thing to worry about.

Sleddingdad you got lots of life left in that sled, down east they consider 12000km a "low miler". I think these sleds will go a lot farther than we think even with mountain riding. I've got 4800km on my old summit and it runs great. Only thing I changed was the plugs and belt. I just upgraded to an XP but that old 800 is still great. (its for sale in case anyones needs a good sled)

Thanks for the perspective. It runs great, a little tweaking this weekend will probably do it! Thanks
