Redline turbo

Does anyone have any experience with the Redline 5 psi stock injector kit on their 850? Looking for feedback.

Why not just call Dave at redline, he will fix you up! It’s his kit!

I bought a used kit that was previously installed on an identical 2020 Summit SP. Of course the previous owner said it made incredible power and worked great... ok. I take that with a grain of salt of course. Kit does look nice and clean etc, etc. I called Dave, he was busy... but called back. I explained I purchased his kit used and gave him the name of the previous owner. I didn't get a chance to ask all the questions I wanted to ask. He was extremely busy. The kit is supplied with a white, yellow, white primary spring and the 90g zbros ramps with magnetic weights. He said he wouldn't support his kit if I changed the clutching. He said I'm going to put too much load on the engine if I started messing with springs and helix's. I always thought turbo clutching could be improved from what the manufacturers generally send or don't send and that I want to load that 850 good with the turbo installed? I'm decent with clutching so no big deal. I know his kit isn't altitude compensating but wanted to know what kind of temps I can ride in. I didn't get a chance to ask if the kit was temperature compensating. All the kit has besides the SIC box is what looks to be a baro sensor. Baro sensors in my field are used for temperature compensation. I don't know where to mount it as the instructions I have are for the HO kit. I asked him if I could ride it at home at 2000ft if we ever got some decent snow. He said yes, but it would run out of fuel on long pulls...hmmm? Basically all my riding is done from 3-6000ft so not a deal breaker. Anyhow, I'm no stranger to turbo 2 smokes. I've had plenty. Just looking for honest feedback from someone who has run this kit. Maybe a little trick here or there to make the experience... lets say, a little more pleasant. What kind of fuel should I run and how I should mix it. Little things. Regardless, you'll get feedback from myself after the kit is installed. Just looking for some one to push me into getting it done sooner than later.

I'd honestly just run the clutching he says to run, he isn't going to support all clutching configurations that are out there, not enough time in the day for him to test them all.

Once you have that up and running tweek from there.

The kit I had from him worked really well, and the guys I ride with that have them like them.

Fuel is either 50/50 race or av.
Dave isn't gonna recommend av as it is a slow buring fuel compared to race but we have found it works well. At your elevation you may want to mix a little more generously.

The box was mounted by the coolent jug.
Not sure what generation of box you have but the one I had did temp/elevation compensation.

Thanks for the reply skegpro. Agreed on fuel and mixture. My plan was to run C12 and premium, heavy on the C12. I'll post some pics as I get into the install. I was going to do the install this weekend as the temps in the Pass here in North BC are going to be frigid. We'll see. I don't have BUDS so I'll have to make arrangements to turn the oil pump up.

Would think with 5psi you could get away with good pump fuel, I ran a season at that boost on pump fuel with Aerocharger’s kit, on 800 Etec

His HD kit so far has treated me well

Exactly what I thought... Dave said straight av or 50/50 mix? I haven't installed the kit yet. Having way too much fun this year with no kids hockey because of Covid. Don't want to put it on and mess up a good thing. I only have one sled. If I didn't have to take it to some one to have the oil pump turned up, it would already be installed.. lol.

I could be wrong, but I think the concern is the oil injection supply dead heading in the turbo. This is the reason for turning up the pump. There again... I asked Dave and he said pump absolutely needed turned up three points richer(lower number).

tuned mine up 2 points years ago when i first installed the redline turbo on my XM. ran the original engine to almost 10000km(7500km under boost) before i did a preventative rebuild, most of it at 7lbs of boost. did have the 5lb waste gate for about 800-1000km. the boys at Motor Tech (Banner) did it for me in about 2 mins.

Up is down and down is up. The lower the cal number the higher the oil output. Mine was on 5 in stock form, and I had it is set to 2 when I installed my kit. This was per Daves instructions.

Maybe he forgot to move it down, but it’s been there a year now, so far so good, uses 1/2 jug to a tank of fuel

Been getting a code the last 5 rides on it now as I’m going up to elevation and coming down at end of day to staging area, rest of the day it’s been great.. like the knock sensor not set low enough

Agreed, lower number = more injection oil supply. Bayman, I don't have that kinda luck... lol.
