I was at United Diesel a couple of weeks back.... and they had been changing a lot of Ford injectors lately....

Shoot there aren't to many things left to change on that engine short of the engine.... itself..

I've got a 97 2500 Dodge... I've never had to do any of those things to it yet. I change oil every 10000 km, grease, oil, conditioner in every tank of fuel (summer or winter)... etc... Its been well used and is treating me right.... That's why I'll hang on to this one... to much electronic crap on all of the new ones... that and they're not made as well.... :D

I've got a 05 F550 with the 6L. It has 160K on it and is currently in the shop again. Since new it has had all the injectors on the right bank changed twice, three egr valves, one egr cooler, one new intake manifold, one new turbo, one high pressure oil pump (I suspect that is the problem again) and one trans temp sensor. It's not my truck it is owned by the company i work for. I change the oil around every 5000 kms and use 5/40 synthetic. I am glad i don't own it. I have a 05 Duramax and would not trade it for anything!! That is just my two cents:twocents:

Hi
My Bro has a 7.3 96 & 97 I had a 2003 6.0L and it was the best. I had an Edge chip and exhaust and air intake. Ran great lots of power but someone wanted to buy so I sold and got an 2008 6.4L same truck but my 03 was lot quicker and better on fuel than this 08. Had the auto trans with 4.10 rear end gears in both. Get a 2003/2006 6.0L you will love it.
Here is another site you can check out it has a lot of good info as well. Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums - Ford truck and SUV owners and enthusiasts Community And Information Source.
By the way I had 136000 KM. on my 03 I have 23000 on my 08. Thinking about chiping and exhausting it but I still have waranty for now so I will play it safe.

Hi again
As for fuel milage if you keep the RPM down you will get mileage. Example I left Blue River with a full tank of fuel Pulling my 26 Ft. enclosed sled trailer full of sleds and gear, truck is a 2003 4X4 dually crew cab 6.0L with a raised canopy 8 ft. box, auto trans, 4.10 gears. I used 3/4 tank of fuel to get to Hay Lakes , just south of New Sarepta but North of Camrose. Than I left Hay Lakes and drove home after I had unloaded two sleds and four people with gear there and used a 1/4 tank coming home to Sherwood Park, but my foot was in it wanted to get home quick. Had to pour some fuel in so I could get to pumps. Plus this truck was trouble free and only went into shop for recalls. I hope this helps.
