Oil pump timing?

01 zx 800 throttle /oil cable needs replacing,have new cable but not sure where to set pump ,any useful tech would be great,thanks

you need to get a mirror so you can see STRAIGHT on the lever with the tick on it and the 2 ticks cast in the block. with the throttle released the 2 ticks should line up. the lower one on the block is richer and the higher tick on the block is leaner. you need to be looking straight at these 2 items so you can see if the ticks are lined up. then add 800ml of oil to your first tank to monitoor the oil level to make sure it is usuing an appropriate amount. about 1L PER TANK is normal
