Are you talking about the federal and provincial funding that was doled out this summer? If so, we got some, enough to spruce up our chunk of the Golden Triangle and develop about 105 km of new trails. If you know our trail system, we are cutting a new trail from the Gundy cabin (Virginia Hills) to the Groat creek cabin. This will make a loop that is about 170km long. we are also cutting a trail from Hwy 32 at Groat road to the Groat Creek cabin. There will also be a trail made around Goodwyn lake Southwest of town. We expect the majority of heavy work to be completed this year (All federal money must be spent by the end of March 2010) hopefully all of the trails will be ready for use for the 2010/2011 sledding season. The county of Woodlands is also opening up the day use camping area at the intersection of Groat road and Hwy 32 south of Whitecourt for use as a winter staging area. (Not sure if this will be ready to go this season or not).

What Glen says is true, the small clubs DO need help. Both Swan Hills and Fox Creek clubs are short of members, their volunteers are stretched to the max. Get lots of emails from guys wanting to ride the Golden Triangle, not many asking if or how they could help make it rideable again......
