So, it looks like the Oilers are a much harder team to play against so far, first place in the conference after 10 games!!!

with a best goals against in the nhl according to tsn, and one of the best penalty kills, and a much better power play than we've had in years......i wont get too optimistic but its going to be a much better year i think

2nd in the league...........not bad . RNH ticking a long at a point per game..............No use taking penalties on the Kids , they will make you pay on the scoreboard :smiliestirthepot:

Good point there, maybe this year we can be the ones handing out the punishment, cause a penalty won't cost us the game!!!

Here is my take on the success....no I have never played professional hockey, although a number of amateur sports, just a fan, with a wish.

6 in a row...not since 2002 has the Oilers had this success.

Defense...Ralph Krueger is the man behind this change. Smid, who I have always liked as a shut down D is performing well, Gilbert, I have seen Dilbert throw hits in 4 games now and I have yet complained about him this year. Potter, what a steal to get this guy out of no where. Once Sutton is back, Whitney is no longer hurt (if that ever happens) and Barker can find some game the forwards will have more offence. Tuebert looked good in his first game, and I actually thought Peckham did okay (no bad penalties)

Offence - the kid line is getting shut down. At some point they might have to juggle the combinations. As slick as they are, they are being targeted. The old timers, Horcs, Smyth need someone other than Jones. Jones belongs on the 4th line. He is an Eager type player. The 3rd line, Its not gelling at all. Gagner...where do you start...small, not the greatest skater, doesn't win battles, not great defensively. Trade him for a 2nd rounder. Belanger needs a quality winger (aka Hartikinen)...Paajarvi, this guy can skate, he is a big kid...but at some point, someone is going to realize he is just a larger version of Cogliano. All speed, no hands, no finish.
With Hemsky coming back in the near future and if he can put together half a dozen games before going out again, try the Horcoff, Smyth, Hemsky line. Otherwise, Hemsky should play with Hopkins and Hall. Eberle goes down a line (not because he is not playing well, but there needs to be more speed on the second line)

Goaltending...lets not burn out the Bulin wall...give Dub some ice time and play him on all the back to backs so he keeps his confidence.

7 in a row Saturday? That would be a treat!

at this point i dont think we need to be worrying about what changes need to be made, let just see the good. and that is right now the whole team is PLAYING they are playing together and its working. the defense i think is the big story for us but the big thing also is that horcoff is scoring, smytty is scoring and doing what he does in front of the net, and the other lines are putting the puck in the net, yes the kid line is getting shut down but give them time and they will learn to break through that defensive shut down. and lets not count them out just yet eberly scored last game and him and hall both scored two games before that and the three of them are in our top four for points.......

i have kept from getting excited about the team for a few years now, but at this point its getting hard not to be

my take on the whole deal is wtf? wow looking wayy better than i think anyone expected this year.
as for my big wow factor Ryan Smith, whats up with dat like 6 goals and another 6 assists or so, it usually January before he is hittin thos numbers on lightin the lamp. teams looking good lets hope it stays that way.
