JB Marine is for sale. You could buy yourself a job.
Haven’t been in that store for years Bert. Did they ever do any expansion or renovations? I don’t remember their place being that big? I would imagine they want retirement type money to sell though? Is it still Jim and his wife? Can’t remember her name

how many places in small town offer 30 buck an hour starting with 12 hours shifts 7 days a week? And no not some union place where someones uncles brothers knows a person who knows a person.
Please let me know and I will uproot tommorow!!
If I wanted a stress free life planting trees or picking fruit for 14 an hour and living in staff housing with temporary foreign workers at a foreign own farm I would do that too, but I cannot bring myself to that living situation. Maybe I should apply at the fish gutting factory in Tofino and live off the land like the hundreds of others that do.
Sounds like your best off staying home. Leave BC to us poor buggers who dont have to work 12 hours a day 7 days a week to make a very good living.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I am staying home, and anyone who wants to live in the best country in the world, Alberta, can come with. Or stay in a province that has PST, air care, etc.
When the cost of living drops here more so than Dubai it will be amazing how many will flock back, especially when they see how cheap our gas is.

Unless it's changed recently, nope. I know someone who ran an excavation company in B.C and had to come to Alberta or even Sask to keep busy because there was no work in B.C. It wasn't by choice, they liked living in B.C but there just wasn't much work to be had.
Your buddy must have been one real crappy operator. You cant find or hire a piece of equipment around here right now. The construction, mining and logging industries are going flat out balls to the wall. But I guess because your buddy cant make it, its BC's fault, not his.

Air care? You mean the testing program that got eliminated in 2014? Maybe if you didnt have to work 12 hours a day 7 days a week you could keep up with things.

Remind us again how much BC contributes to Canadas GDP and equalization payments again?
When the cost of living in BC really goes up do not come crying back to Alberta. You can have your Liberal/Socialist Canada

14 - 20 hours sometimes :p Get paid by the day, not the hour.

Same shop as always Her name is Val. That guy should go talk to them. They are getting older, maybe work for them and take it over on time. Lots of opportunity for sled repairs in winter in addition to the boating business.

There you go. You seem to have the attitude that Alberta is the only province that pays. BC has been a consistent payer as well for many, many years. Add to that the gap has narrowed considerably in the past few years.

But hey, your and hourly paid patch worker, of course you have a degree in economics.

There’s not much excavation work during the rainy season in bc. It’s one big sloppy mess and the costs are 30%+ to do dirt work in the slop.
Well I don't know where you get your info or what area your looking in but here on the island I haven't had a slow time time in 8 years but keep the rumours going out there because we got enough of you folks for a while,

Contrary; I have a degree in computer engineering, worked in Mexico, New Zealand, Australia because of it. Got to experience other countries and cultures not as a tourist but as a local. Seeing what their country is like in comparison to ours; something tourists who "travel" never experience.
What about you professor?

Thank you for posting that indeed Alberta contributes more than BC to the economic success of Canada :p
