How are they standing up to the time and mileage ?

Costs to do repairs on these are high if you have to do any.
Thanks guys

Re: 2008 Summit XP 800 Engine Problem
Well I just took my 2008 Summit Rev R to the SkiDoo Dealer in St. Albert, Alberta. Coming back from Clemina Creek trail near Valemount yesterday... heading back towards trail head and on KM 20 of the 26 KM trail, engine seized. Couldn't pull the starter cord at all !! Son towed me rest of weay with our 2001 Polaris RMK 800. When I unloaded it in the Dealers yard, it started up again but ran rough, he figured 1 piston was not working. Started talking about this and that probably wrong, crank, needing a bottom end too if I replace the top end, etc.. and saying a short block with 1 year warranty is the way to go. Will find out soon.... sled only has about 1500 KM on it !!! But I have been reading ALOT on the web about the SkiDoo 600 - 800 series Rev Motors seizing up and lucky to get 2500 KM out of them. Guy at dealership said the same thing... 2 - 3,000 KM and that is it. Seems like NOT ENOUGH for a sled I paid $8500 for with 550 miles on it ! Not happy with Ski Doo and BRP. Think I will stick with Polaris, and older models at that !

Etecs are running to around 10,000km on them reliably from what ive seen. 5000km might be a good time for a top end.

my summit(2012 154 800 E-TEC) has about 2300 km on it now (all mountain riding) and up until last trip ran awesome with no real issues. my last trip it developed a sputtering, bogging type issues, and before I got that figured out the steering post snapped off. Im leaning toward reeds right now but i haven't got it apart yet.

Ok I got it apart. The reeds are toast. The pto side ones were just damaged on the tips and the non pto side was pretty bad one petal was mostly gone one had a pencil size hole and two others were cracked . Gonna order up some rage cage action I think !

I have an '08 summit with about 3000km that just seized up on me two weeks ago. After tearing it apart with my Dad/mechanic I found that one of the inside crank bearings was destroyed. It took the rest of the motor with it (one of the connecting rods were discolored, the piston had melted chunks of bearing on it and the head had cracks in it). Threw a new shortblock in it and good as new!

And what does this have to do with high mileage etec's ????
On this thread we don't care about ptecs. Thx
