I am having some boggig issues when i put to the bar and have been told i may need to put a shim or two in. How does a guy determine if this is nessesary or not. Could it be a bad belt??

Clutching problems doesn't usually cause a bog, you will have other issues with clutch problems, Who told you that you may need a shim? Maybe they ment a shim under the needle. Their seems to be a bogging problem with the xp's, mine did it last year and then it magically disappeared. Bogging is usually a fuel related issue.
