Hey guys, does anyone know who does work on the boost-it's anymore?

I expect the turbo is fine but for some reason the sled started completely losing power and struggling to get to 5500rpm, even when coming down the trail to boulder parking lot. Not sure what's going on but when it started losing power I flipped in new plugs because it felt like I was only running on one cylinder but no change. When trying to pull back out the trail the power loss was somewhat intermittent in that the turbo kicked in and pulled up a climb on two occasions on the way out, after I failed to make the climb due to the power loss and had to roll it over to take another run. Weird but it seemed like rolling it over caused it to work again both times for those two separate climbs out. Also pumping the throttle seemed to help get the boost up, but again, that was only after the roll over. When I got home I checked turbo oil and it was quite low, so I filled it up but still no change. Can't get it above 5500 rpm. Both cylinders are 100lbs compression each side, and new plugs in place.

would appreciate some assistance or helpful advice. Thanks in advance for any responses.

also, does anyone have a PDF of the XIC manual? Bought the sled second hand and didn't come with it. Thanks!

There's another very recent thread on here that has all the xic values. Have a look at them. I would check fuel pressure on this, as well as air leaks. Cranks seals, and last rubber intake rubbers, including throttle bodies.

I would look at the tach signal and the boost line. Here's a manual from a few years ago.

Like snopro said give us more info on your sled and maybe we can help you out with a few more suggestions. Depending on the sled 100lbs of compression could be a problem. Also some sleds are more prone to specific problems than others.

Similar help for a 2014 XM 163 TSS intercooled Sidemount. Anyone have data sheet for fueling set-up through RPM range and just the overall set-up I can compare my second hand sled against. I have messed with the numbers and would like to know what they should be close to at this point.

The turbo kicks in but acts more like a stock sled. I am guessing the secondary injectors at this point as it has a new fuel pump and filters. Av Gas with no mix or extra oil in gas tank. Sled did work great at one tie. Reeds are new and new plugs as well. I had turbo looked at and it is good. Compression 125-130. Coil and stator are good

I have the latest ski doo xm fuel mapping for my boost it side mount. i also have the xic manual. pm me and ill send you a copy

Honestly it can be just about anything. Here's the order I would check things in:


Does the XIC have power?

Boost and tach signals to the XIC? There is a menu in the XIC that will show rpm, if this shows with 250rpm (only reads in 250 increments) you should be good. Same with boost, if it changes when the throttle is snapped open you should be good.

Primary spring, is it broke or deformed? This may prevent the sled from revving up.

Fuel pump or fuel filter? When was the last time the filter was changed, can you check the fuel pressure.

Boost/exhaust leak? Could be anything from bad exhaust gasketor donut. Or a blown off boost hose, or o-ring from the airbox to throttle bodies.

Throttle position sensor? Does the engine cut out at a specific throttle position, sometimes will set a check engine light.

Bad stator coil?

Ignition coil faulty?


This is by no means an exhaustive list of all possible issues, but probably a good start.

Thanks for the hints guys - and the manual!!! Much appreciated.

Sled is a 2016 Polaris RMK PRO AXYS. Sorry thought that would populate through my bio.

I since ran the injector test by grounding the injector feed from the XIC and it seems like they are working (engine died at idle, indicating the injector fired enough fuel to kill the motor).
Checked rpm on the XIC to see if it matched the stock gauge, and it did(proves TPS is sending signal).
Pumped out tank and filled with fresh C111 (not bad fuel).

Still can't get more to more than 5500rpm... no codes are being thrown. On goes the battle!

I was also having issues with the throttle sticking at the handle because of ice build-up, so I bought the Munster throttle kill switch bypass jumper and will see if that has anything to do with it. Not sure if there could possibly be a failure in that switch as I open the throttle (change of resistance vs. complete on/off???). Anyhow, heard this is a common issue as well so good to have the $35 part just in case.

Sounds like reeds pretty common.etec run like a bag of smashed assholes with bad reeds way worse than a cat or polaris. Work on lots of turbo sled and that be my first check with these symptoms . Use stock or tdr do NOT use boysen or anything like that

Had this same issue this last weekend on my 14, except mine wasn’t intermittent. Turns out my exhaust pipe had rusted out at the expansion chamber and had two pencil sized holes, those didn’t cause the issue though, just a really weird dead spot at about 5500 that it would pull through. I ended up finding those holes after my exhaust sensor completely broke out...couldn’t get over 6k if my life depended on It.

Compression is a little on the low side, maybe pull the y pipe and see if the pistion are scuffed. And check the reeds.
