Turn every thing off see if the meter is still turning if it is then unplug your main plug should tell you if u got a power leek
That's what i would try.

is this extra consumption reading on both meters or just the one going to the trailer? its called troubleshooting, your doing it backwards... find the problem from source first

I concure, start at the start, if they are both wonky, probly not the meter.

In a 20 yr career, I have only ever seen 1 meter that has failed, and it didn't read high..........it just didn't read at all. It is exceptionally rare for these devices to fail, although it does happen.
The meggar idea is something I would try as well, you could very well have a leak to ground that a weak/old breaker is not catching.
Unfortunately, you are at the point where it becomes a process of elimination, and as you seem to be fairly competant with the meter, it won't take you to long to figure it out.
