Yeah I wish they would have just put the 850 in the XM chassis, narrower plastics and called it good.

Same here, out with more this weekend, they ran ok, but nothing that said I stand out.. Might be a good time to find a cheap t3 as backups, could be multiple years for bugs with G4 to be out

I've been wondering for awhile now if my friend Carter's 872 Trygstad sled was any faster than my stocker.
Hard to tell in the trees because other factors come into play.
Just goofin around today, so we drag raced up a hill.
Everybody likes a race so here you go. 872 won by a little bit. 5000$ worth?? I don't know about that.

There is some comparison video I seen posted on here a few months ago and guy was making a pretty good case for the 872 showing it highmark the 800 by quite a bit.
Seems like a lot of money, especially with turbo kits becoming somewhat affordable these days

Yeah, the 872 is faster but not by a hole bunch.
3 inch track would make more difference than
a few hp I'm thinking. If I put a 3inch on my
sled we'll try again.
this wasn't a scientific study though, just pissing around

good to see a comparison between these for sure just wondering if he has the higher comp head or does he just run pump gas ....when i got my 872 dave suggested i go with the higher comp head bit of a pain running race fuel but i think he recomends that so people are not dissapointed ..............i definently have to agree with you that the 3 inch track would be more noticable either way .......i got rid of the 872 for the 850 with 154 3" and id say the track is what makes it stand out my 850 technically has less hp than my old one but going from 146x2.5 to 154x3 makes it really perform in the steep and deep

Even last spring he didn't seem overly impressed, but it was cheaper then a factory rebuild!
I'd say 3" for 2k is a lot better option!
We have a 872R in our group with some higher compression that works very well, eats stock/not well set up etec's all day.

There is more to the 872 story I think. Too many variables to say what's what. That video that I seen and I posted on here awhile ago, shows a stocker getting absolutely DESTROYED by a 872 Trygstad sled. BUT, they don't disclose specifics like compression ratio and weather its running pure AV gas ( which I suspect it was).

Yeah don't think Carter is too impressed with the 872 today. 1000km on the engine,, seized up and he had to get towed down by a Polaris....
Guy can't catch a break this year, 850 is a POS and now his backup sled is down.
