I went on a run this last weekend, sled acted like it was loading up a little,
About 9 miles from our first gas stop it wouldnt clean out any more, had been getting hard to start all day, but stopped and filled up and went to start it,
It fired right up but you go to give it some gas and it backfires a lot, wont even move now had to load it up and ride in the pick up for the rest of the run.
Tryed changing plugs but diddnt help.
Anyone have any ideas?

Is it backfiring as soon as you touch the gas or mid throttle????

I would take it for a test ride and run it with the choke on the first setting. If stops backfiring its probley a lean condition. I just did this on my 98 700rmk. It wouldnt stop backfiring so i moved my needle clip to the middle #3. I had it on #2 was to lean causing backfire........ Now it runs perfect.I guess it depends on where you ride to i guess........

Worth a try good luck

I would check the primary wires feeding the coils.
Had trouble with my 92 triple backfiring and found some bad connections.
It would run OK at an idle, but once the RPM got up the wires would vibrate enough to not let proper power feed the coils.
