So is this steering geometry different than the 2014 Vipers?

this is the pro climb chassi the 2014 viper used the pro cross chassi,pro climb chassi is supposed to be lighter & stiffer + yammi has added a bunch of light weight parts,mag chain case & a few other things.

I’m writing this post from Valemount BC, smack dab in the middle of the mountains between Edmonton and Prince George. This morning we lifted the embargo on the new sleds and I just finished reading the thread on Totallyamaha along with a bunch of magazine reviews. As usual the comments are all over the map, from good to bad to worse. Thought I would take a minute to offer my take on the 2015′s.
Mountain sleds – yes – If there was one area we have been suffering, it is in the mountains and deep powder back-country riding areas. We watched our market share decrease in the mountains going back before the recession and it was with trepidation that we launched the Viper last year without an M-TX version for our dealers. Mountain models make up over 30% of total sales and we were not in the game. The Nytro mountain made for a good platform to modify and in the hands of a good rider, performed some magic but for the average guy who wasn’t looking for a 300 hp assault weapon – there were better choices.
When we looked at the Viper platform for mountain it was pretty clear that we needed to do more than simply add a long track and narrow it up. The Pro Climb frame brought some good features into the mix with dedicated mountain tunnel and steering layouts but is was still designed around a 2 stroke engine. We took the extra year in development for chassis modifications focused on the targets of agility, balance and manoeuvrability akin to the lighter competition.

Our engineers collaborated with the mountain specialists at Arctic Cat and Fox to figure out the best ways to manage the additional weight of the 4-stroke in terms of balance and handling. We also brought in some of the best riding talent on snow to help in the evaluation and testing, Guys like Randy, Chris Brown, Chad and TJ have had significant input on the sleds. The cherry on top was the addition of boost that was achieved working closely with MPI, our official supplier.
We now have a line up of mountain machines that have narrowed the gap dramatically to the 2-stroke world both in terms of weight and handling, add to that the availability of consistent high horsepower at altitude and we are back in the game, big time. Lots of stuff we didn’t talk about like special ECU program and clutch calibration for response; analysis and consequent weight reduction in many small areas like fasteners and materials, all add to the equation. I am heading out this afternoon for a ride with Randy and Chris to see how it’s all worked out first hand.

anybody know if & when there will be demo rides for these new mtn vipers
We will announce a Boost-It Demo day shortly. We will have a 162 Viper with a stockish skid, oem boards, etc. We will also have a couple 174 Vipers, and one of them has a Racers Edge T-Motion and 36 inch front end.
Looks like first weekend of March in Revy and the following weekend in Valemount.

How does a guy sign up? ive always been interested in trying the boost it pro. I'd like to try both if possible

Racers Edge T motion for the Viper sounds interesting.

Well... Just a real good look at the 2015 Vipers in Vale... And ya they have my vote as they are a very sled...IMO..!!
The Blue/Orange in person is very nice... Pictures don't do it justice.. And the White/Blue is really nice....

And for the MPI Turbo very nice fit and finish..!!!

Yamaha also has great snow check incentives also....

And for the 3" luvers yup install & go... Lots of room..

the viper weight according my yamaha technical rep is 585 rtr and the skidoo is 565 rtr not sure 20 lbs are worth fighting over. yamah power and reliability and doos not so much reliabilty.

The weight you were told is a complete misleading one, the part you were not told is 585rtr is the weight of the Viper XTX, a crossover with a 144.
I saw the exact number's on the spec sheet from Yamaha and the rtr weight of the mountian version is ALOT higher.

If these vipers are 50 lbs +\- from the heavy 63 XM and with Yamaha clutching ( which they do) can't see any down side.
Take any 2 stroke with electric start and see what they weigh?
Some people will complain about weight in a mountain sled and then add E start. ( dumb) in 2 stroke.
4 stroke has to have as well as mechanical Rev. Adds up.
Can't comment on the handling as haven't rode one . ( like most that are yapping about them being so terrible and over weight)
260 +\- hp in a tuned 600 lb sled that runs ever time with electric start isn't going to be to bad.
IMO
But until a person rides one I would think it is hard to have a opinion if it is good or bad.

I really doubt it would be around 50 pounds.. I would be surprised if it's not closer to 100. Time will tell.

These vids don't show when 6 guys are trying to get a 4 stroke unstuck somewhere...and if you say that you don't get stuck.. well...that's where the adventure ends for some and begins for others.;)

Only 6 guys? Why not hyperbole it to 20 guys and a crane? I've seen a few "multi-guy rescues" of 4 strokes(turbos)....and it was because they were stuck in some impossible frickin location that a N/A sled would never get to. I have a season on a T-Nytro, and riding the way I do (like a wus mostly) I rarely got stuck. And when I did I only recall actually requiring help once or twice to get unstuck....by ONE guy (lucky Kibbles, LOL). Can't say that for the 18 years of riding 130-150hp sleds.
