2007 Sportsman 450 Hesitation

Once my quad gets into water any deeper than the floorboards, it loses power and just decides to sputter until I let off the throttle (doesn't stall and die though). On dry land it's absolutely fine. What could be my issue? I cleaned the carb in the spring, BTW.

something is getting wet. Put dielectric grease on all connections. Also make sure the piece of foam in the front of the seat is in place. if not steam will go up through there and choke the engine out.
