    Sportsman 4X4 not working

Good day, just wondering if anyone has any insight as to why the AWD on my 2005 sportsman 800 just stopped working one day. I used the machine to plow snow and it worked just fine, no issues, then parked it in the garage (not heated but out of the weather), came back two weeks later to plow snow...

    Fuel/oil mixture ratio

Hey all, i just rebuilt my sons '89 Polaris long track 440 engine. The oil pump has been removed so I didn't install another one. Just wondering on what a good fuel/oil mixture is for the first tank of fuel though it. I'm thinking 32:1 should be good but wondering if that's too lean for the...

    Crank case leak test

Hey all, i recently rebuilt my Polaris 440 F/C engine including splitting the crank case. Is there a method to pressure test the engine after I have it out back together so I can check the gaskets and seals and make sure they don't leak?

    What is this for??

Actually that is the serial number. I just checked and it matches. Not sure why it's on that plate but I do believe that's where the oil pump used to sit.

    What is this for??

Yes it's used. Someone thought it might be an oil delete kit and it think he may be right as the previous owner told me it used to have oil injection but they removed it and went to mixed gas.

    What is this for??

Can anyone tell me why there is a gasket and orange gasket maker behind the serial number plate in my 89 Polaris longtrack 440? It looks like it should be a port of some kind but for what is beyond me. Any insight would be helpful, thanks.

    Stuck set screw

Hello all, I am replacing the track on a 1989 Polaris and have not been successful loosening the set screw on the lock collar on the jack shaft. I've used heat, fluid film, tapping the lock collar with a punch and hammer as well as a cordless 18v impact driver. No luck. So far, I haven't...

Residual oils in intake side of carb

Hey all, I just took a flash light and had a look in my carb when I had the air filter off and took a rag and wiped out some residual oil and carbon on the intake side of the carb. What is this an indication of? I believe the filter sock also had fine carbon particle dust on it. Any ideas? I...

    Converted 2 place sled trailer

Hi All, I'm converting a good utility trailer into a 2 place sled trailer. I removed the fender flares and am putting 2x8 deck boards over top to cover the holes. This will give me the extra 2' of width I need to put 2 sleds on it. I'm just wondering what I should use to go over the wood where...

Oversized piston vs factory sized pistons???

Huh...you're the first person to suggest it will work with two different sized pistons. While I'm sure it will, I think I'm still more comfortable doing both the same. I also think I need to replace the head cause it has matching putting with the top of the piston. Thanks for you input.

Oversized piston vs factory sized pistons???

That's kinda the way in leaning too. Any suggestions on cleaning out the crankcase without taking it apart?

Oversized piston vs factory sized pistons???

Hey all, so I recently found the compression on my '89 Polaris longtrack to be 120/60psi. I tore down the top end and found one piston damaged. I called the Polaris dealership and was told they don't make those parts anymore. He did say that I could bore out the cylinder and put in an...
