I cannot speak to the Ascender platform or compare to it unfortunately...
Mine had the same issue when starting out. A dead spot when I blipped the throttle. Pulled the power valves and walla! a small gap was noticed as they were not sealing all the way closed. . Replaced them now runs like a champ.
What kind of weight do you have in the saddle? I'm 225 and like I said, this will be the wife's ride but my a$$ will be in the saddle a few times I'm sure.

I still ride the ol' King Cat 900. I don't remove any dust shield ever. Just grease that speedo side bearing every time you go out and replace it once a season as well as the chain case side bearing.
