Lol, seem that you end up hanging out with and getting to know the locals more on Kauai than any of the other islands, maybe because it's so small?? There is always something going on outside the resort, they have a full blown 1/4 mile drag strip with funny cars, rails, back alley muscle cars, the works....chit you wouldn't expect on that "garden island", two day event when we were there last June. Been to a local rodeo, had my rental stuck on a beach!!! You don't find that kind of entertainment on the other islands.

shhhhhhh the greenies will be all over it

Not much to see or do in huatulco, some resorts and few pubs in a small town, oh and a navel base. That’s about it. The car rental guy said I wasn’t to travel outside of town because it was to dangerest. I was like really dude.

This is true. If you are a busy body it can get to be a long week. I have stayed at Dreams three times now. Its cheap in December, like $1100/person, but Feb & Mar its double. A few nice beaches, some great snorkelling, a nice little town. We go because its quiet, all Canadians, and inexpensive when we take holidays.

We loved Hawaii spent 10 days on the Big Island. Not cheap but not stupid expensive either, spent WAY more per day in Manhattan. We did an AirBnB oceanfront condo in Kona for 6 days and a house rental in Hilo for 4 days. Had a rented Jeep that got us everywhere we needed to go including remote beaches. Was a very active vacation with a daily agenda. We did a 1/2 day helecopter tour, full day deep sea fishing, Luau, volcano tour, 1/2 day 10 line Jungle zip-line, seguay tour, markets, beaches, galleries, waterfalls & even had snow up on Mauna Kea.... was an awesome trip. Cost us about $10k Canadian + 70,000 aeroplan miles all in but we splurged a lot, the helecopter tour alone was $700 USD.

Update on Tahiti; took a tour of the island yesterday, very much like the garden island Kauai with water falls and very green lush jungle like terrain in the higher elevations, towns and settlements clean mostly, but pretty run down everywhere including front main in Papeete. Very expensive, t shirts $20-$30, a beer in a street pub $5 US during the day and jumps up to $10 at night?? People are very friendly, service in pubs/restaurants is considerably slow but out on the roads they go like hell. Glad I seen it, wouldn't recommend it..
We catch a cruise ship (Paul Gauguin) tomorrow for next 10 days. And I know it's costly, wouldn't recommend this for a honeymoon trip either, more like maybe a 25th anniversary or like mine 40th!!, you want to make sure she's a keeper.. 😂 lol

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Its looking like we're going to be heading to Cabo. We're headed to Vegas the week before for Conexpo with my work for 4 days so it'll be a good variation of partying with Americans and Mexicans haha.

Maui is an excellent place to spend some time with the wife, stay on the northwest side near Lahaina, super laid back and lots to do. We're headed there at the end of Feb for 2 weeks to celebrate our 15th, staying in a condo in Kapalua, should be an awesome time.
