So the wife and I are looking to finally take our honeymoon since neither of us were in a position to leave last summer after our wedding. We're looking for a nice all inclusive type resort for a week, I've done Cancun twice, I'd like to do go somewhere different. I've been thinking about Cartagena, Columbia (looks like a beautiful spot and a cool historic city) or Cabo San Lucas, has anyone on here been? Any other spots you guys recommend checking out?

Catalonia Riviera Maya located in Puerto Aventuras about 45- 1 hour south of Cancun . The area is a gated community with several AI hotels a golf course , marina, shops and easy to get to all the Mexican adventure parks , ruins and cenotes . There is also condo rentals if all inclusive isn't your thing.

Really comes down to a price point and what your into. Anywhere hot in a 5+ star will be real nice. I like the adventure of slumming it a bit in remote locations but if you like being stuck in a resort and tourist area there all the same to me.
panama is great, came across the old bridge by foot from Costa Rica into bocas Del toro. Costa Rica is my go to place.

Los Cabos will be similar to Cancun but less people.

If you want adventure do Panama.

I have been there twice, loved it both times. Went to Ixtapa/ zhiautanao( the town Andy goes to when he breaks out of jail in Shaw-shank Redemption) last year and it was also great. Smaller town but still lots of restaurants, shops and activities.

100% agree with this ^^^^^^

Really depends on what you’re after... and usually price! Like the old saying goes: you get what you pay for..!

Anywhere in Mexico is going to be less expensive, including places like Cuba (somewhat of a unique twist), Dominican Republic, & Jamaica. The outer and southern Caribbean islands are going to be more $$$$.

If you can stomach the exchange rate, I would consider Hawaii again...(I’d skip Oahu and Waikiki/Vegas this time around). Maui was chill and laid back. Would look at another island for sure.

or another interesting option (I’m soon to explore) is southern Mexico.... Huatulco!!!

What tejay said here is an awesome vacation spot. I have a cousin that lives there so we spend a couple weeks there every winter. Probably one of the most affordable vacation spots.
Costa Rica is another excellent vacation place, we spent a couple weeks in Tamorindo (not sure of spelling) and a couple on Papaguyou. Tamorindo is much more affordable, similar to Mexico..
Just flew out of Mauno Lani Hawaii yesterday, its my favourite but getting expensive these days.
Currently in Tahiti, it's looking like a pretty good go to place, prices are definitely higher than Mexico or Costa Rica

I hope you have a great honeymoon where ever you choose!!

Tortola in the British Virgin Islands is by far my favorite spot, St Thomas is pretty sweet as well as St Kitts. Curacao is also a very nice place. Those are my top 4 vacation spots. I prefer Caribbean islands as they are way less busy, not near the poverty level for the most part, the people are awesome and the beaches and water is amazing in the Caribbean sea. St kitts is cool because its right on the border where the Atlantic meets the Caribbean sea, pretty cool to go up to a high spot on the island and be able to look at both sides and see the difference between the two

What I've found, Mexico and Costa Rica are by far the most reasonable, Jamaicans not so friendly, Dominican is great inside the 5 star resort, poverty and garbage piled up outside if you choose to go out. Cuba is a very interesting place to go, and very friendly, it helps if you have a Canadian flag on your backpack, they love Canadians..
As MPKid says, the Hawaiian islands are awesome, skip Oahu unless you want to see pearl harbour, Maui is good but Kauai and the big island Hawaii are my favourite..

Not much to see or do in huatulco, some resorts and few pubs in a small town, oh and a navel base. That’s about it. The car rental guy said I wasn’t to travel outside of town because it was to dangerest. I was like really dude.

Next door to my neighbor...
A buddy of mine just came back from 2 weeks in Aruba. Says it was very nice. A large portion of their GDP is tourism so they are very kind he says. The rented quads and side by sides and drove all over the island. Apparently you just pull into traffic and go. He also mentioned that it is a place to relax. If you need to have a busy vacation, maybe not the place.

Fixed it for ya....Kauai - the garden island... there's always next year

Lol, seem that you end up hanging out with and getting to know the locals more on Kauai than any of the other islands, maybe because it's so small?? There is always something going on outside the resort, they have a full blown 1/4 mile drag strip with funny cars, rails, back alley muscle cars, the works....chit you wouldn't expect on that "garden island", two day event when we were there last June. Been to a local rodeo, had my rental stuck on a beach!!! You don't find that kind of entertainment on the other islands.
