The ability to start in 1/4 rotation isn't a true requirement of the implementation. There's no limitation on that. Even if the motor had to turn 2 full turns to fire itself up, as long as the energy storage system and electric motor system are capable of 2 turns the concept would work.

Shot start has no electric starter motor. It basically turns the flywheel and stator into a starter motor, hence the limitation on how far it can rotate the crankshaft.

I noticed the 3 years of warranty coverage when you spring order does not apply to any of the Arctic Cat sourced two stroke motors (Transporter, Venom, Mountain Max). The 3 year warranty promotion only applies to the 4 stroke models.....

I copied this from another site. Not sure if this is true or not.

This is true, looks like it’s only coming with the one year warranty and additional YPP is not available on the Mountain Max.

“All Yamaha snowmobiles shall be warranted for a term of one (1) year from the date of purchase, plus a special early-season extension (if applicable).
All Yamaha snowmobile clutch components are warranted against normal wear for a period of three (3) months, or 1250 miles (2000 km), whichever comes first.
All Yamaha snowmobile batteries are warranted for thirty (30) days from the date of purchase.”

Brutal, first stuff I saw with the warranty said three years. But now I go back on the site and look and there it is, 1 year.

They’re basically the same machine with BNG and supposed different mapping. One or the other needs to factory turbo and match BRP warranty for them to live and compete.

On another note I thought the vertical post on the cat was going to be terrible coming off of doo’s for years. It’s really not that bad though, easier to get used to then I thought it was going to be. Feels different from the Poo which doesn’t feel natural to me.

Kanedog 2015-2019, thanks for the good times S&M!
A mf’kin THREE month warranty on clutches. This is clutch history in the making. We saw it happen right here in front of our eyes. Who is to that thank for this great new coverage. Cat, Kanedog, Team or Textron?

No problem cuz I had a weird dream. When you have a cracked clutch, wait until your friend buys a new Yammi or Cat and drives it for some miles. Slap that old clutch and wheel dat bish right back to the shop. This is theft and illegal so don’t do this. I do not recommend doing this.

A cool idea would be to take the clutch off and sell it to someone who needs one and buy a better clutch. You may need a new 083 belt to go with the no roller style clutch. No guarantees on the belt length or even if it will work. Change at own risk.

That being said, I would buy a Alphayama.

I'm going to disagree with you there. As you say, it involves parts like a flywheel, crankshaft, stator, rotor, and copper wires, with an electrical power source feeding into those wires, that causes the crankshaft to turn. That's the definition of a electric motor, and in this case it is being used to start the sled, so I am fair in calling it an electric starter motor. And no, none of this requires a "limitation" on how far it can rotate the crankshaft, as electric motors are pretty good at turning more than 90 degrees.

so why isnt it on every sled then? If its as easy as putting a sending power to the stator.

Yamaha must have read KD's thread on the clutch issues and revised their warranty policy.

Why aren't tethers on every sled? Why isn't direct injection? Why isn't turbocharger? Why monotube non-adjustable shocks? Why no remote-start from a cellphone?
