I can’t remember if I put this on here last year or not had trouble getting my full boost but only noticed it up top of mountain started at 1-2psi less and finally got worse one day. Clearly sled tried to compensate until it could not. Was a rip in stock charge tube I chased this demon a lot last year was in a funny spot didn’t seem to be rubbing. Was only running Evo stage 4 so nothing to crazy for extra boost most I seen was 16.5psi at elevation.

Just curious what guys are running the front shocks at ? soft, med, stiff ,super stiff
im running Elka stage 4 on my fronts with coils set soft

I would suspect the boys at Elka set them up for the hard charging, whoop riding, jumping crowd. The valving will be super stiff for off camber mountain riding no matter how soft you go on the preload. Best to get them changed or just put your stockers back on if you want the sled to move around and transition the way it was intended. Been there done that. I run my shocks soft enough to change directions but not soft enough to get body roll. The Elkas wont allow that unless they are completely re-valved for technical mountain riding.
Good luck.

I think I was 1200km on my first belt absolutely disintegrated it on a day that had 4 feet of fluff should of known better I believe I threw another one on last year after another 1000km just to be safe full load hard riding that’s for sure.

I will be changing out my belt depending on condition's from here on about 800-1000kms no mater what. If its deep heavy snow i won't exceed 800, in spring condition's i'll run it till 1000km.

Haven’t used it since I had it machined. I do know that prior after a few pulls the heat was insane. Can’t believe the belt stayed on it to be honest.

Interesting on your heated clutch, i don't think i ever experienced that on my Yamaha's. Not my Nytro or the Winder.

Just think of the Turbo Smile you’d get from that kit cranked up haha only reason I’m thinking.

Stock sidewinder with just a pipe is awesome also.

Yeah it’s cool forsure. I’m a chassis guy...make things work better in that department. Messing with carburetors, pipes, jetting, aftermarket turbos all these years..cured me.......factory engine way easier. I think I spent more times chasing the ugly performance ghost, or so I thought....lol .....had my fill.

This is the #1 reason I started riding Yamaha again.

I agree, i love the power of the 4stroke but also love the reliability. Finally we have a sled that offer's both without the head aches and big cost.
The power up kits are great for the right guy but that is just the beginning of many other required up grades, then there's clutch mods to match the power up, gauges to monitor. In some cases cooler hoses need changing and BOV valves.
That is the reason also i ride a Yamaha, plus i don't chute climb anymore, too old for that. But i'm all for the guy that does doit, it is alot of fun just building them to your spec's.

The title says "4 stroke or nothing" I haven't read the whole thread but how many guys voted "nothing"?

If I lived down east or in the north eastern states, I would have a 4 stroke. IMVHO (in my very humble opinion), the S&M 4-stroke crowd is basically drinking Yama-laide and that has much more serious affects than Doo-laide.

To each their own, but to have nothing instead of a 4-stroke shows to me that these guys are more interested in the mechanical aspect than the riding aspect. Does it imply that they wouldn't ride if they didn't have a 4 stroke? Are they out there for the love the snow or the mechanical attributes?

I'm out there for the love of ripping through snow at 70 mph thanks to the 4-stroke mechanical attributes. Now go change your doo-laide IV bag...LOL

You see me all the time out there Doug...I’ll ride anything that works...I prefer the 4stroke for realiability, great performance, no belts, no oil, and for my size it just works. I’m usually leading the pack in the trees. 4 stroke is an anomaly around those parts forsure .... riding gets me away from everyday chaos, spending time with family and friends, and the exploration of new territory. My Yamaha allows me to do that and doesn’t let me down. No, I’m not brainwashed or brand loyal. I have a polaris is the garage also.

I am always willing help fellow sledders with any problems and I don’t trash any other brand of sled on the forums.
(That I can remember haha)

Lol almost sounds like a add here...

Hey all.... what is ones opinion on a larger IC?... it seems that no one is designing a W2A or S2A.

Flow bench testing of the 998 intercoolers is complete.
Although flow varies with different pressures, on average, the 2.25 inch core flows 7% more CFM than stock and the 3 inch core flows 15% more than stock.
Testing was done on our Superflow SF-110 with pressures from 6" up to the max of 16"

So from other experienced guys do you think the extra 15% flow with this 3” core would help
in longer pulls of IAT? These are being designed and built by Tommcat Performance for drag race applications. They are willing to let me try one out for Western Riding. I may try one .. quick and simple to change out.

I’ve owned many turbo Yamaha sleds over the years and many 2 stroke. I had turbo Pro with MTNTK Turbo and didn’t impress me at all ... there are better ones. I grew up with the Yamaha product with my family... so always been a bit partial. I enjoy both products 2 & 4 stroke hence why I have both. I know many criticize the Sidewinder for its weight penalty but my mind set is each to their own... many have not rode them but many that do are impressed. Haters will be haters .. I’m not saying you are ferniesnow as I always post conservative feedback .. that being said I’m excited for this winter as I will have some unique stuff on my winder and Alpha...
