And yet the vancouver harbour gets 277,000 barrels of raw sewage a year dumped into the harbour..... My cousin lives right on the harbour and says due to the e-coli there is no swimming on most beaches.... Yet the natives are blaming oil tankers for killing the whales? Also, oil tankers are only 1/150th of the tanker traffic in the harbour....wtf! Naive natives!

The natives are being influenced by outside sources.....mainly non-Canadian outside sources (mostly US driven) who will go to any lengths to stop Canadian oil from making it to tidewater. Until we get a leader who will push it through, ignoring the paid off naysayers we are screwed!

Also, allowing eastern Canadians to buy oil elsewhere while their family to the west is hurting is criminal IMO

This really smells of "payoff/corruption", who stands to gain? Why did Kinder Morgan accept so quickly? Will they or a subsidiary buy it back for a couple hundred million at a later date? The "Deal" was too easy..... The "circumstances to convenient"... Who do you trust to investigate, was it not a Trudeau appointed judge?
OCCAMS Razor.. (The simplest solution tends to be the right one) ...Did notely/phillips etc have a plan? Were they pawns or puppet masters...
And tax payers (not all, but it seems the majority) blissfully cruise along trusting the govt...
Power tends to corrupt, absolute power corrupts absolutely....

Go check out the number of ships carrying coal vs oil. Staggering difference

It is ridiculous to import oil from anywhere to Canada period. It is truly annoying for me to see 'Merica get our oil at deep discounts and sell at market rates. Nothing will change without pipelines to tide water east and west. Hope that Kenneth Green of the Montreal Gazette isn't the only Quebecer to see the simplicity of what is required.

Maybe I stand corrected but I thought Irving also had a sizeable hand in bringing in foreign oil.

Yep, The east coast refineries do rely on foreign oil for their feedstock. Energy east would of cut back on the amount imported, but If I remember right would not of eliminated the import of foreign oil.
Irving was one of the company’s that wanted The energy east project to go through. They had plans on building a tank farm and export terminal with Transcanada.
