So I wonder how it will go if I get stopped with a sled that is registered to someone else? Do I need some kind of documentation authorizing me to be using it?

It should be the same as any other vehicle. Should being the key word. If it's registered and legal and you are just riding it legally there is no crime being committed.

Not sure. I tried to argue it, but I definitely kept my receipt in hopes someone could prove that I shouldn't of had to pay the gst again. Today was a bad day registered 2 sleds and 2 dirt bikes

And they can rape all they want on a PROVINCIAL tax, but on a federal?!?!?!?!? :nono: :nono: :nono:

Ya, he didn't pay GST. No GST on private sales of used vehicles. He paid 12% PST. When we forced the BC Government to chitcan the HST and go back to PST+GST the thieving fawks thanked us by raising the PST on private sales of motor vehicles from 7% to 12% just to make sure the knife was firmly embedded in our backs.

Whoa!! Why GST also??

Its actually 12% PST...when BC recinded the HST....our government....in its wisdom.....saw alot of money going out the door.....so they now clasify it as PST for us to pay on our toys.......clubs fought hard on this one but to no avail.....that to me is a cash grab.........here is a link for ALL the rules on PST for Off Highway Vehicles.....please read it as it does have good info especially for veicles bought before 2010.....

It's really the same argument as gun laws isn't it? Who says the crooks are going to try and register their machines? Hauling with an enclosed? Just deny the cops access to it as that is within their rights. Or slap on a plate or sticker that is registered to an identical legal machine. Do you really think Constable sour-cream-glazed is going to climb up on a deck and check the registration against the VIN on the tunnel?
You can try that if you want, but you better have all your $hit together. If they find one thing they can nail you with not only will they, you will also be sitting waiting for them to get a search warrant. Easier to just let them look if you have nothing to hide. Remember they don't know you. You could never ever break the law in your life or have a body hanging in your trailer so they have to treat everyone the same. Like it or not, this is the world we live in.
