It will be my new baby. :) I will probably tear up when I first lay sight on her.

Already tearing it apart in my mind to change the bars and riser and get all the parts off that I'm anodizing and powder coating. :D :D

2014 Summit SP 154 800 with estart. :D
Upgrading to Summit X shocks.
Changing bars and riser to RSI
AND
top secret color scheme to get powder coated when I get it. :D :D

For me, it beat the pro by a long shot. But that is completely my personal preference. And I was even surprised at how much I liked the XM because I HATE the XP.

I never did hear what you decided on. You getting an RMK or staying with doo? And whatcha doing with your old rev? How much out looking to get out of it?

haha see above Quintin. The '04 is already sold pending the rest of the money coming through. But if that falls thru I will let you know. :)

An actual reply to the question..

I've ridden both.. all with different suspension set ups. Both sleds "jump" out of the snow great and climb like tarzan chasing after some tree pussy.

If you want either to climb well tighten up the suspension.. if you want to wheelie they will do that as well.

They both look aggressive. . Imho.. and one may look better due to your opinion.

You won't be disappointed in either.

You clearly don't have much seat time on the XM to make a statement like that.

Bottom line the pro rmk is a good sled and would be my second choice as a mountain sled. But in reality it's a poor product in comparison to the XM. Fit and finish of the rmk is "fisher price" compared to the XM. The engine lacks horsepower and anyone who says the XM does not perform 10+hp better than the pro rmk hasn't done enough testing. The skidoo XM pops up ontop of the snow like no other machine I have ridden. Yes the rmk does this much better than the cat but it does not pull itself out of the deep snow like a 16 wide sled with good power and the effective low end clutching of the Etec. More benifits like the 16 wide track ( let's face it we are buying mountain sleds trying to float on 3 feet of snow don't kid yourself a 15 wide track belongs on the trails). The Etec power plant has proven durable and is extremely clean and efficient. I can fire 3 of them up in y enclosed trailer and they make less smoke than a cat or pro rmk at idle. Fuel consumption on the Etec is second to none and oil consumption is very good. Not any better at full throttle all day but of you have a mixed day it will barely go down on the reservoir. The summit model sleds now come with a 2.5" proven design track which is basically a replica of the camo extreme. Everyone and there dog puts the camo extreme 2.5 on there sleds as an upgrade including pro rmk owners so why not buy the sled that comes with one from the factory? Save yourself 1500$ right there. The XM is truly the only mountain specific sled on the market. The pro rmk is a stretched trail sled like all brands were up until 2013 with the release of the skidoo XM. The t motion skid and flex track are innovations brought to the mountain segment exclusively and they WORK. The running boards are mountain specific and work wonders. Haven't had to clear my boards all year. Some other features I like about the XM is the warm glove box in the front. Keeps my electronics warm and they work much better and are easily accessible for those moments when you need it right now. Black coated tunnels are very sharp. Pro rmk gets boring aluminum color. One of the key differences is the way the steering system works on the two machines. One steers flat and one moves with your body. The way the flat pro rmk steering functions it works against you for backcountry riding and is not ideal. It is made to work but it is not correct for technical riding. But in reality tons of people like this setup so really I urge you to ride both and see which one feels comfortable to you. If your in valemount drop me a line you can try out my XM. And yes contact Trent at Martin south side he will take care of you if you decide to sway towards an XM. My group picked up 4 XM this season and no issues his far other than the recall which was not a problem for us. The XM will pull your arms off and keep tractoring up the hill like a goat. The sled just works and will get you back to the truck at the end of the day. 3000+km for me this season on the XM and loving every minute. I still shake my head when I look down and see where this machine has taken me.

Are you sure your not a salesman. I would also buy an xm. For me it's not even a question

XM is without a doubt the best stock sled I have ever purchased.....Maxwell i don't put anything in the "glove box" that I need to keep warm or dry(camera/gloves).....154x 16 = similar footprint to 163x15.......horse power of the Etech is awesome.....Pm me for 3 names of riding buddies that will admit to multiple failures of both top end and bottom end on '11 and '12 Poo 800.....'13 Cat ProClimb has great power and handles just fine(no belt issues after 700mi)XM , Pro and ProClimb are all fun to ride if you take the time to get use to them.....any one of the affore mentioned sleds are likely more than capable of exceeding the abilities of 95% of the people that own them. I am likely one of the least brand loyal guys out here and have owned every companies so-called mountain sled since the '08 XP 800r.

First off I own a 2012 Pro RMK and today if I was to buy a 2014 Pro or XM, hands down I'd go with the XM. I still think the Pro chassis is superior, but the XM beats it in every other category as well the refinements to the XP (XM) chassis have helped huge (narrow front end, flex track, teeter totter motion). Snocheck a 2014 XM and ride 4 yrs with warranty!

PS: There are alot of people on this forum that are salesman or are good friends with salesman, so take some posts with a grain of salt... :spy:

Just going to start this out by saying I am probly going to snow check an xm, but if the pro had the etec in it, this would be a totally diffrent conversation.

I always thought that a vertical steering post was for mountain riding and an angled post was more for trail riding?

Seems to me that this xm belongs to a fairly technical rider.....hopefully he can talk doo into a more vertical post.

For guys that have ridden both can you comment on ski pressure.

At low speeds on packed snow which one is easier to turn? And which on gives less feedback to the bars?

What I am getting at here does the XM share any of the steering characteristics of the late XP?

As far as steering goes I think it is all what you are comfortable with. I am a creature of habit and rode a Pro this year and wasn't thrown off by the steering like I thought I would be. Maybe Rasmussen is a fussier cat. Lol.
