Does anyone know a place in the Edmonton area that I can do my H2S alive course on a weekend?

Also suggestions on the best place to go for First Aid, once again over a weekend.

Thanks Folks,

Call the Alberta Construction Safety Association for the H2S, they should be able to get weekend instructor names for you. St. John's Ambulance should be able to help you. If you have no luck with these two I can get some names of independant instructors for you but they are not cheap.....they are tailored towards group training(10-15). 1 or 12......same rate

Do they do weekend courses for H2S Alive Bigfoot? I can't get a day off my current job to go get the course for another possible job.

They do First Aid for sure.. I will check on H2s in the morning, It may depend on numbers (Amount of persons booked & demand) I will PM ya on my findings.
Yes I can see why you can't get a day off.. What's ya up to doing if one may ask ? You don't have to answer & a lie is acceptable.

I have a line on a job with Midwest Surveyors, they just want me to have those 2 courses before they hire me, saves them $250

The demand for surveyors and rodmen is high, just like all other profesions. If you are qualified for the position, use it as a bargaining chip, and they should provide you with the courses. Tell them that you will gladly take them after you are hired on.

Is it for commercial surveying or oilfield?

Oilfield... I have no training for it at all, I'm going in "Green" as they call it. They suggest you take the course on your own to show that you are serious in getting into the profession. But hey, if you know of a company that will hire for decent money without, Send me their name :D

No matter who you work for in the "patch", you will need the basic safety courses (if they don't require it, then maybe its worth thinking twice about that company). If it is an issue, then just tell them that you are having a hard time trying to schedule in the courses.

Thanks for the advice Tekim, I'm gonna get the courses ASAP. Its only $250 and I can get my current employer to reimburse the First aid if this doesn't pan out.

and Ric, the guy I talked to said I have an "in" because I already sled and quad and am knowledgeable of the operation of them.
