Ok so in all seriousness, I have a pretty small boat, I know its not the right kind of boat for surfing, but I am really liking the Seadoo boats. Been looking at bigger ones, but those of you that are surfing, whats your opinion on a seadoo boat for surfing?

Sea doo boats are jet boats and those aren't very good for surfing. The whole point of a jet boat is to skim across the surface and go fast, and when you try to surf with it your doing what it's not ment to do by weighing it down and trying to sink it. The hull design and everything isn't designed for surfing and making a big wake. The wake with a sea doo will be small and not very clean, making it not very fun to surf. If you want to surf I would recommend getting a v-drive boat. They make the best wakes for surfing.

I appreciate the advice, and while what you say makes sense, Seadoo also makes 2 specific wake boats, so you can see why Im confused. I would however hate to invest in a so-called wake boat that just really doesnt do the job

My buddy has a new sea doo Wake, I think it's the 230, but it doesn't really make the nicest surf wake. It's still surfable, but your kind of limited to what you can do with it. There is a pic of his surf wake and then mine.

Thanks so much, thats the info I was looking for. And yes that is what my wake looks like too...kinda messed up and choppy. The 230 is actually bigger than I was looking at, we were looking at the 210 so even smaller wake. Kinda disapointed though, I really like the jet...

Yup no problem. Back before we got into v-drive boats we were looking at the sea doo wake series, but then we found out that they weren't really the best for surfing and wakeboarding, so we decided to get a moomba mobius lsv. Amazing boat and last time I checked it was roughly around the same price range as a new seadoo wake :d

As mentioned test drive them all. IMO you won't get much of any surf behind a jet. I have a Malibu and run over 2000lbs which builds a nice wave, this can be so tricky to achieve. Even small difference like prop rotation make a difference, Malibu & Mastercraft both run clockwise where Nautiques runs counter which benfits goofy riders. If your mostly looking to surf the Centurion Enzo is tough to beat right out of the box.

This is a pic of the surf wake on my old Malibu from a couple years ago, a smaller pocket but was only a 19'6" boat, the 22footer gives you more room to ride farther back.

Great advice too...

Problem down here, not many dealers, not many lakes so to try and test a few different boats is a real challenge. Maybe surfing will have to be something that I just watch you guys do LOL

thanks
